A horrible mistake. 10/5/2010

Tried Slopes (Johnson Ferry) today to see how compares to my two favorite joints, Fat Matt's and Williamson Bros.

Went around 7:00 on a Tuesday and there was not much business but that did not matter since I was getting a to-go order. Cashier was friendly and prompt and accepted the Groupon with no hassles. My order was ready in less than five minutes. Impressive so far.

First, the Okra was tasty and I received a good portion for the price. It was cooked properly; being neither soggy nor floating in a puddle excess oil, both of which would have indicated an improper cooking temprature.

Next I had a 1/2 rack of ribs which were moist and tender. I found the sauce to be tasty but very middle of the road spice wise; a bit more kick would help but that is a personal preference.

The Brunswick Stew - Last time I checked, and an online recipe search backs me up, Brunswick Stew is made with Pork and, usually, Chicken and generally includes most of the following: Tomatoes, Corn, Lima Beans,Okra and Potatoes. What I was given was a pint of meat shreds floating in an oily brown mess with a few miniscule pieces of corn floating in it. This was a bland, oily insult to the palate that went down the trash disposal.

Lastly, I ordered 1 pound of pulled Pork. Sadly, the Pork was dry and tasteless (emphasis on tasteless) with the texture of steamed carboard. Fortunately there was plenty of BBQ sauce to drown it in.

So - Okra was tasty, ribs were good.

Brunswick stew and pulled pork - I've had much better in Cafeteria serving lines.

Slopes is awesome!. I've been going to the Sandy Springs location ever since it opened and it has yet to disappoint. Their new offering of beef brisket is not to be missed.

I usually eat at Slopes at least once a week and am already looking forward to my next visit. You can even take in meats for them to smoke at a very reasonable price.

Highly recomended.

Love That BBque From Slopes!!!. Where do I begin, Great Pulled Pork , Awesome Brisket and why not throw in a rib or two on the side, Eat Um up as a plate or a sandwhich. Slopes can compliment any lunch or dinner with a fine selection of side dishes. You must try the fried okra, one of my personal favorites.

Slopes is my favorite BBque joint, so good we do lunch every Thursday.

Slopes (great BBQ). I am a big fan, I eat there every week with fellow staffers and we look forward to Slopes Thursdays. One of the best reasons to go to work. Food is always good and the staff is always great. I highly recommend it.

Yuk!. Can't think of another word to describe it! The meat had no flavor. We had a party of 4 people and none of us finished our meals including the sides. They were bland and tasted straight out of the can. We couldn't leave fast enough! KC Pit (around the corner) puts this joint to shame!

The Best Barbeque. Kudos to Slopes catering service for a wonderful corporate holiday party!

Glen's personal touch and charm definitely added to the overall experience.

Everything was taken care of for us and the food was delicious and plentiful.

Two thumbs up...I would HIGHLY recommend them!!

Editorial Review. This casual local chain offers authentic Southern-style barbecue favorites--specializing in pork, chicken and ribs.

Slope's is good but not the best. Pork sandwiches are good along with some tastey sauces to accompany it. Beans and stew are good as well.
