“The appetizers were excellent, but the lobster (3 pound minimum) was over priced!”
Great service and juicy cuts of beef; the ribeye and mashed potatoes are my two choices when I don't care about my cholesterol intake!
Great Food and Customer Service. I picked out New York Prime for our office dinner. There were 18 of us and we all agreed that it was one of the best meals we had ever eaten. They served us two large trays of appetizers that were delicious. It had oysters, lumb crab, crab claws and shrimp. Then along with our steaks and side dishes we were all stuffed. Everything was cooked to perfection. I will recommend this resturant to everyone. Not only was the food and atmosphere perfect but the custmer service was at the top of the chart. We had two waiters the entire time and we never wanted for anything. Charles was one of them and I sorry but the young ladies name I can't remember something like Kalen. We will be back. A great time had by all.
Awful atmosphere! VERY VERY VERY smoky!!!. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE unless you are a smoker or don't mind the smoke. This place was awful!!! My friends got sick and threw up because of the poor ventilation due to the cigar and cigarette smoke! The bar was right next to the dining area and you can see how smoky the place was, it was suffocating! It didn't matter where you sat, the smoke was overwhelming! NY Prime made a huge mistake by allowing smoking because it brought the classiness of this overpriced place way way down! The appetizers were excellent, but the lobster (3 pound minimum) was over priced! $70 for a lobster that the waiter had to clean for us on the cart because it wouldn't fit on the table with other dishes. The restrooms were nice, however, you'd have to make your way through the thick smoke just to get there! The wait staff was excellent. The food wasn't anything to brag about.
Fun restaurant, ok steaks. Restaurant had a great atmosphere and overall the food was very good. The petit filet I ordered was not the best steak I've ever had but we both thought that the wine, salads and side items we ordered were exceptional. The caesar salad was amazing as well as the creamed corn. We had a fun night and most of the meal was great....but if you're going purely for the steaks, this is not the best I've eaten.
Excellent Dining Experience.
New York Prime is definitely my favorite place to go for a serious dining experience. I've been there a number of times, and in addition to ordering the more traditional steaks, I've had their wonderful lobster (MAJOR portion) and their chopped steak. They also have a wonderful chopped salad, onion rings, and creamed spinach. Oh, I almost left out their jumbo lump crabmeat appetizer!
The bar is a very pleasant place for a pre dinner cocktail. They make an unusually good Kir Royale.
This is a first class steak house all the way from the food and wine selection to the excellent service.
Steak tasteless. I went to New York Prime the first time with a group of 4. We had a great evening, but it had nothing to do with the food. The steak was Tender and cooked perfect, but it had no flavor. The oysters rockefeller were so over done with cheese and spinach that you were unable to taste the flavor of the oysters. The sides we very weird. The salad was put through a food processor before it was served so it looked like someone ate it and then put it back on our plate. The onion straws were greasy and cold the mashed potatoes had so much cheese in them, it was like eating baked cheese. The asparagus were as big as sausages and as touch as straw. Very over rated!
Best Steak I've ver had!!. We enjoyed New York Prime for my father's 60th b-day. The service and food was UNBELIEVEABLE!! Between the 4 of us in the party, we had 3 bone in Rib eyes and 1 Petite strip. No one was disappointed, and all agreed it was the BEST steaks we had ever had, period. The bone-in is exceptional!! We have all been to almost every fine steakhouse in Atlanta, and all agreed this by far is the best. The service is terrific as well. They anticipated our every need, from the water glasses never allowed to go below the halfway mark, to our napkins being folded the moment anyone left the table. It was a terrific night and we can't wait to go back! The ambience is not quiet, so it is not a great romantic place. If you want the PERFECT steak, this is the place!!
Quality steak, but a bit noisy. I will preface this review that with the fact that this was a business dinner, so it was on the company dime. It kind of got off on the wrong foot, as we had asked if they had a private room to accommodate a meeting we were scheduling. The host said they did, and it was the Ritz Room. Upon arrival we learned that the entire dining room was called the Ritz Room. They tried to seat us in a quiet corner to accommodate our meeting, but it was still too loud in there to really hear much of anything. On a better note, the food that we dined on was very good. I had the bone rib-eye, which was absolutely FANTASTIC. Id never really had a prime rib-eye before, but this was one of the best pure steaks Ive ever had. Our waiter and overall service was notably excellent.
Steak at its finest. The succulent filet is to die for! Service staff anticipates your every need. Portions are generous enough to share. The banana cream pie is the perfect finish.
Atlanta's latest bank-busting beef bonanza gets the essentials right..
The Scene
Ensconced in a hidden space across from Lenox Square, New York Prime holds its own commendably among the Buckhead steakhouse conglomeration. The traditional man's man look is what you've come to expect from a temple of beef, and it's all here: wood paneling, brass railings, and a square bar in the center of the room. Servers are polished and polite.
The Food
An enormous, ancient lobster paraded around the dining room in a little red wagon is not as enticing as the management might hope, which is fine since the glorious steaks are reason enough to dine here. Go for classics like New York strip and filet mignon, both of which are properly aged and succulently juicy. Gigantic oysters Rockefeller are textbook specimens, covered in creamy spinach, Parmesan and bacon. For a decadent ending, try a piece of delicate banana cream pie.
Absolute Perfection. Although I don't live in Atlanta, I get to the city as often as I can. I have been unable to forgo this restaurant (EACH TRIP) to give another steak place a try. This place is by far the best steak I have ever had anywhere. Their service is impeccable, and they do it so well without making you uncomfortable. I strongly recommend the appetizers, too. Portion sizes are generous, and everything is brought to your table at the PEFECT temperature.
