The Scene – The simple decor of decorative mirrors and exposed brick matches the atmosphere--inviting and unpretentious--a perfect setting for the Virginia Highlands. The warmth radiating from the pizza oven creates a cozy ambience, luring families, students and neighborhood foodies with better-than-average fair at a reasonable price. Crusty, paper-thin Euro-styled pizzas, all in the $10 range make this easily-addictive joint a smart, reasonable choice for the urban warrior. The tempting combinations run the gamut, from classic Margherita to the Siciliana topped with succulent eggplant…

girlfriends and i had brunch on the patio. when we asked to be seated in the shade they put us at a table half covered with shade. we asked if we could move again, the waiter just shrudged his shoulders. a few minutes later an umbrella was brought to another table. we asked if we could have one. we were told no, they were out. then we asked if we could move into the shade at another table, we were told no. then we asked if we could move our table to the shade. again, no. my cocktail was hot and i sweated thru my meal. i didn't enjoy one bit. by the time we left, my back was burned and the girl next to me had a wet napkin on her neck to cool off and to keep her neck from getting sun burned. her arms were burned.
on an ealier occerance, i was having brunch with friends and it took just shy of 3 hours for them to turn our table. when our food came out we had to get up, go inside to find our waiter and ask for silverware. they never refilled waters or came to check on us. it was dead of the summer and our finished plates sat in front of us for 30 minutes with flies everywhere. again, we finally got up and found our server (sitting inside) and asked him to clear our plates and bring the check. plates got cleared. still no check. still no check, again, we had to ask for it.
I've worked in food and bev for 13 years and have not ever seen such poor judgment on the staff's abililty to serve customers and i've never seen such poor judgment in the management that hires this kind of staff.
- Pros: patio
- Cons: horrible customer service
Found a Gem!

My family and I went to Osteria for the first time as a birthday / engagement celebration. I wanted to go somewhere that was reasonably priced (and that had good reviews). Osteria was the perfect spot. The food was awesome. I highly recommend the Boscaiola and Bolognese pastas. The spinach salad was delicious and HUGE - enough for 5 of us to share! We will definitely be going back.
- Pros: Great food, great value
- Cons: Parking - find a spot on one of the side streets
