Best sushi in Alpharetta.
Service is.
Best sushi in Alpharetta.
Service is usually fine, but the food greatly outweighs shortcomings of the attentiveness of the server.
If you want good sushi or hibachi, you must go here.
A bright spot on a bad road for food.
I've work for a while on windward road so i know it's a cavalcade of boring bars and food holes. But I stopped into Ichiban on a friends recommendation. Glad I did.
I love japanese steak houses and am very familiar with how they work. You come in, sit down order, then wait for a chef to come prepare the food. I don't know if it was perfect timing or just how every visit goes but, I walked in got seated ordered a drink ordered dinner and boom the chef showed up like he was just waiting on us to order. Japanese steak houses make ordering pretty simple...Steak. You either get it with chicken or shrimp. So thats the easiest part of the whole thing. Our chef was entertaining, fast and accurate. Everything was cooked to the right temperatures and the right veggies on every plate. The waitress would pop up out of nowhere and brought me with a fresh drink without me asking. pretty much a perfect night out with a date. I will be back!!!
As for the bad. They close at 10 so this isn't a late dinner spot like I like to do sometimes. So don't be a night owl like me and go early. you won't regret it.
Worst service from Sushi Chefs.
Usually sitting at a sushi bar is a fun time to spend.
The chefs *might* have said hello, but after finishing a bowl of miso soup, a salad and a carafe of sake, they hadn't acknowledged my presence nor taken my order.
I was a bartender for 5 years and always tip well, but this was pathetic service and resulted in *no* tip.
What a waste of time. Try another place.
Best sushi in Atlanta. I was expecting to walk into another kitschy suburban Japanese restaurant, but the decor of this place is so up to date and makes it a great date place. Their sake menu is fairly extensive and the sushi is the best I have had in Atlanta. Hibachi grill is also good. Service has always been good as well.
Great Sushi AND Hibachi. I can't believe anyone gave the Alpharetta Ichiban a bad review. We go here all the time, and have come the know the staff, who are very friendly. The food is excellent. Hands down the best sushi in Alpharetta. Very fresh and prepared expertly. The hibachi is always delicious as well. Highly recommend eating here if you haven't.
Mixed feelings about sushi at Ichiban last night ....
The food was good, but a lot of little mistakes kept the restaurant from reaching its full potential. The space was very noisy, our server didn't seem to care in the slightest that we were there, and the sushi menu completely lacked prices! Additionally, they had no combo dinners (the sushi menu didn't even list soup, despite the fact that they offered it for hibachi combos), and they served tepid water with tea bags for the tea. The maki were looser than they should have been, and they don't have their sushi rice right. At first I thought this was just because the kitchen was backed up and rushed (which I don't quite understand, because the majority of their business was for the hibachi tables), but after receiving my disappointing order of nigiri (served well after my entree, instead of being an appetizer like I requested), I wondered if the sushi chef was new: he or she completely overpowered the delicate ika with large daubs of wasabi. I like wasabi, but it's potent stuff that's meant to be used sparingly, and it ruined the squid.
However, despite the numerous problems, I have to give them points for trying to do Midtown-level sushi out in the 'burbs. The fish was fresh.
The sushi menu is about as anti-traditional as you can get. Anything goes: one roll, called The Orthodontist, included American cheese! I had the Siberian Tiger, which incorporated spicy salmon, pine nuts, and soy bean pseudo seaweed as a wrap. It was excellent. My husband had the Dynamite roll, and we split the Empress roll, a combination of spicy yellowtail, spicy tuna, eel, and avocado.
These issues could be easily remedied: get the chef familiar with the fish he or she is preparing and teach him/her how to roll it properly; reprint the menus with actual prices (what a concept!), coach the wait staff a bit, hang some attractive cloth banners from the ceiling to help buffer the noise, and so on. As it is, though, I'll keep searching for the best sushi on the north side of town.
Awesome habachi and sushi!. The sushi is extremely fresh and they have an extensive sushi menu. I have eaten there too many times to count and it is always delicious. The hibachi is really good as well. I highly recommend the place, you won't be disappointed.
Great Sushi Roll Combinations. I have tried both the sushi and hibachi and I highly recommend both. It can be noisy due to the hibachi grills but it is well worth it. My favorite sushi rolls are the Firecracker, 911, and Siberian Tiger. The variety of saketinis are amazing as well. Great Alpharetta restaurant.
The sushi is very good. I have only eaten sushi here, I haven't tried the habachi grill yet. The sushi is very fresh and they have an extensive menu. Definitely get the 911 and the yummy rolls, both are awesome.
Editorial Review. Chefs cook (and perform) at table-side grills at this Japanese spot that specializes in steak, seafood and also offers sushi.
