Editorial Review for Dailey's Downstairs – by Emerson Bell
The Scene
Whether wandering in off the street or descending from the landmark restaurant above, visitors are invited to chill in the warmly lit joint. After long days at the office, downtown workers fall into leather sofas and mingle with weary tourists--all brought together in this sophisticated, cozy jazz bar. By day, the space is a casual grill serving Dailey's oversized sandwiches, soups and pastas to the lunch crowd.
The Draw
If your idea of relaxation is a stogie in one hand and a dry martini in the other, this is the place. Mature vices are catered to by bartenders and servers who know how to dissipate stress, and almost every night features a live jazz band's bouncy beats. The work crowd has a reason to linger downtown after punching the clock and visitors get to feel the current of authentic downtown energy.

I've been trying to find a nice jazz place in Atlanta and this one is not it. It was almost completely empty at around 10pm while most of hte people that were in it were from the band. The redeeming factors are the good quality music and the quality of the food. I plan to go back just for dinner instead of drinks. Forgot to mention the average age of the crowd was about 40 so this is not a singles place either.
Pros: Jazz
Cons: empty

relative to the sheraton hotel where i stayed for the weekend, it was in a good location downtown; within walking distance. dailey's downstairs had great service, fabulous martinis, and jazz at its prime. i went there every night of my stay in atlanta. i will definitely return to this undiscovered hidden hotspot bar whenever i'm in town. check it out!!
Pros: apple martini
Cons: can't think of any
