Well, my first experience with Solomon Brothers was a positive one. I went there to look for my wedding ring. The sales person at that time was very nice and helpful. I found a ring I liked and purchased it from them. All was well. Turns out, I am allergic to the nickel in my wedding ring. I did some research online and found out that a lot of people have this problem and that one solution is to have your ring plated with a material called Rhodium. Another solution is to buy a new ring; one that is made of either Platinum or Titanium. So I called Solomon Brothers to tell them about my problem and discuss some options. The sales person on the other end of the phone acted like he could care less. He made me feel like I was taking up his precious time and that it would serve me better to drive there and try to solve my problem in person. So I drive to Solomon Brothers with my wife about a week later. The sales person who was helping me this time was completely awful. When I explained my problem to her, she looked at me like I was crazy. I went on to explain that I wanted to have my ring plated with Rhodium on that day, but I would like to see if my ring was for sale in other materials, such as the Platinum or the Titanium. First of all, she couldn't understand why I wanted to get my ring plated if I was allergic to my ring in the first place. I had to explain myself all over again to her. Then, she assured me she would check on the Platinum or Titanium versions of my ring and said she would call me with that information. It's been about two weeks now, and I haven't heard a peep from her. Now remember that I was expressing an interest in spending more money with them... a lot more money actually. And I get no phone call? Wow! Sorry Solomon Brothers, but I'm taking my business elsewhere. I hope your experience is better than mine. Hopefully, my sharing this information will better prepare future Solomon Brothers customers. Good luck to you! Sincerely.

This was the 3rd jewelry store that my boyfriend and I went to to find an engagement ring and we found the customer service to be awful. We waited at least 15 minutes to be helped, and then when our saleswomen (Ellen) came to help us I got the feeling that our presence was a bother. I went back 2 days later to have a family diamond measured and again felt like my business was not important to them (I waited again for at least 15 minutes and some other snobby lady "helped" me). This is not the feeling you want when you're looking to make an important (and expensive) once in a lifetime purchase! I would not recommend wasting your time here if you enjoy and expect good, friendly, customer service. I ended up finding a setting that I liked at Solomon Brothers, but ordered it from a jewelry store online for a great price! Their loss...
Pros: decent selection
Cons: snobby salespeople
