Worst Service Ever!!.
On 2/28/10, we went to The Big Easy for brunch. We came in and sat at bar and told the bartender it was our first time at The Big Easy. We were not impressed with the restaurant - there was dustballs on decorative hats hanging from the ceiling so big; we were afraid would come and eat our brunch. Except we got no brunch. The bartender after over 45 minutes, and us asking him where our appetizers were admitted he forgot to put our order in. He did not offer an apology; but informed us he was slammed. By slammed, there was a total of 8 people at the bar including us and his buddy in which he spent the time discussing wiring his house for surround sound. When we asked for a manager, a female server laughed and said "there is no manager here today." We asked for the owner's name from the bartender, who sarcastically informed us it is "Claude." Next day, we called Claude and instead of apologizing and trying to make amends for the bad service, told us he would talk to the bartender and get his side. Then, we were more then welcome to call him back in a couple of days if we wanted to know what happened.
With that kind of attention to customers, it is no wonder this restaurant had a total of 15 people at 12:15pm for their Sunday brunch; which other restaurants just down the street have over an hour wait.
This no-frills Cajun bar does Bayou staples and easy-to-please cocktails..
In Short
A stone's throw from Fox and Hound, this petite N'awlins bar and eatery on Collier Road makes no attempt to be something they are not. Simple Bourbon Street trappings, a super string of Mardi Gras beads and locally brewed Abita beer give it an immediate sense of Louisiana. A handful of umbrella-covered tables outside and a rickety wooden bar inside are fittingly it for bare-bones decor. Big Easy standards like po'boys and jambalaya dictate the menu while their voodoo shrimp is a sauced and spiced, and worth a shot. Even brunch goes the way of the Bayou with shrimp and grits, crawfish omelets and Cajun bloody mary's bund to lighten any weekend hangover.
I love this place !. Voodoo shrimp Shrimp & Grits Alligator Chilli I can't get enough ! Great atmosphere Awesome food Specials daily half price apps on tuesday The staff is friendly and calls you by your name. I highly recommend !
Best cajun/creole in atlanta. Shrimp poboy is to die for. voodoo shrimp and crab bisque cant be beat. crawfish boils are a blast. the place is booming with new orleans style and feel just a great atmosphere along with great food. if you havent been there yet get going, you'll love it!
Good Stuff!. ronaldduane must not know what good jambalaya tastes like. If you want it out of a box, don't go to Big Easy. Everything I've had there (and I've had most of it) is fantastic. Sometimes it's too spicy for me but the manager/owner always accomodates me. The crawfish boil nights are a blast, the crab bisque brougt me in 4 weeks in a row and the crab claws are wonderful. My husband orders the Jambalaya and the Crawfish Etoufee regularly. We became regulars after one visit and they know our names and the drinks and food we order most. teh service is great! No wonder it won Best of Atlanta, try it out!
The Real Thing. I went here with some friends last week for dinner. I have visited New Orleans many times and love it. If you have ever been to New Orleans you know that it doesn't take a fancy place to have great food. It's in the culture. That is the vibe I got here. Neighborhood joint, no pretensions, fun atmosphere, great New Orleans food and drinks at reasonable prices. I would definetly reccomend it. They have everything from burgers for our kids to a steak & shrimp for us that rocked. They even have bolied crawfish on wednesdays that I hear is great.
WORST Cajun Food I have ever had...
I went to the "Big Easy" on Collier last night with a couple of friends. The patio and service were ok, but the Jumbalaya was almost un-edible. Absolutely no flavor whatsoever. I paid close to $9 for a small plate of rice with a piece of link sausage on top. The menu described the jumbalaya to contain peppers, chicken, spices, etc...
The plate that I was served contained nothing more than flavored white rice. My friend ordered gumbo and had to send it back in exchange for French fries. Overall, this had to be one of the worst meals that I have ever paid for. I highly recommend that you try another restaurant if you are looking for good Cajun food in Atlanta.
Nice place to relax/unwind. Setting is laid back but service is not. Fast and friendly... Great food, nice place to sit back, relax, and watch a ballgame.. no pretenses at all... very casual...
Great Food. Great Food, Great Value... Awesome experience. Cant wait to go back.
