Um...no.. Last night, because CC wanted steak, we ended up at Durango's steakhouse (her call). We had the sampler platter, salads and two cuts of meat and baked potatoes. Well that's the good part of it. We've eaten at a lot of places in Atlanta, from some of the top restaurants to greasy spoons, and well, I know good and this wasn't it. The sampler was probably the best part of the meal, with the chicken taquitos and badly done chicken fingers. The salads were...there. The steaks, which were supposed to be their best cuts (prime rib for her, cowboy cut for me) were less than, well, they were there, and not very good for the price. The space is small, crowded and loud. And oddly designed, as I still don't get how the patio works. If you're looking for a quality steak house, this would not be it. It's really more a tourist - trapped in downtown- not really sure what else is out there - well let's eat here because someplace else is too croweded - kind of place. And it's not really too good at that either.

Surprisingly bad food. I just ate here (Durango steak house on Peachtree St) for the first time this afternoon. I was born in Atlanta, I live a couple of miles from Peachtree Street and I've eaten steak all over the metro area for many years. I am surprised at how bad the food was here, especially for the price and location. I ordered the Ribeye, it was expensive but that's about it. It had the 'gamey' taste that only the lower grade steaks have (select grade, they should be serving prime). The potato was tiny, about three bites worth and undercooked. It was late afternoon on a weekday so I was just about the only person in there so everything should have been top notch (although the service was fine). All in all, the worst steak house I've ever been to relative to price. It's possible I just got a bad steak that got mixed in with the others but combined with serving a three-bite undercooked potato... unusual. It may have been a bad day so I'll try it once more and update this post accordingly.

DISAPPOINTED. We had the NY strip and full slab of ribs. The steak was medium rare, but that was the only thing right about it. It tasted like it had been boiled, no flavor. There was excessive amount of fat on the steak. The ribs were no better. It was burnt with some meat as hard as the bone. No extra sauce. Again, a lot of excess fat on the ribs, which is pretty hard to do. As a point of reference, we love Damon's ribs and Stoney River steaks. The wait staff was helpful, but we will NEVER go back.

The aroma of oak wood filled the air!. This is wonderful family steakhouse. I had the steak salad with house dressing. It was awesome. Fresh greens and an incredible steak slices cooked to perfection.

Editorial Review. Southwestern steakhouse features an oak-fire grill and signature steaks, chicken, ribs and seafood.
