Zapata Tacos And Tequila Bar

If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine in Historic Norcross, look no further than Zapata. With great lunch specials and a variety of molcajete stews, be sure to try out the Maya 3 combo and a jalapeno or strawberry margarita while you're there!

Breath of Fresh Air. Zapata's a great change from the typical fajitas, chip&watery salsa Atlanta Mexican restaurant. Everything on the menu looks great! The food is great and all the entrees aside from the seafood dishes are under $10.

Tips for Zapata Tacos And Tequila Bar

Worst service ever!! I work in the restaurant business and have Never been treated so poorly!! Marrisa and Yuri need to understand Customers pay your bills therefore You should treat them with kindness!! Both girls had the busboy wait on us because for whatever reason they did not want to wait on us, I have been to Zapata many times and have Never had any problems but today was a different story. Both girls were too busy on their phones and watching tv to care about customers. Last time I checked Customer is King! This kind of horrible service will ruin your restaurant so check your servers Zapata!!

Maybe the cook (whom was great) went south, but now... nah.. Zapata has dropped a notch in the last 12 months, maybe the cook went back to Mexico, really! The Sopa Azteca was mediocre, at best it would be a good tomato based soup. Then the Chile Relleno was undercooked making the poblano chile still firm, needing a knife to cut through it. I have been here before and told others about... this time I would tell them 'look around' ...

Probably the most authentic Mexican food in Atlanta. This small but charming restaurant in historic Norcross serves up some of the freshest, unique and authentic Mexican food you will ever get in Atlanta. The complementary chips and salsa are delicious, fresh and thoroughly addictive. The menu is diverse with some unusual offerings (molcajetes cooked in a lava pot) along with what you would normally expect to find in a Mexican restaurant (i.e., fajitas, quesadillas.) My steak fajitas were great and every other member of my large party loved their meals as well. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that service was slow and the temperature in restaurant was a bit uncomfortably warm.

Best Mexican Food ever!. When I see that even a restaurant like this gets some negative reviews, I begin to lose all hope for the human race. Really, the food here is absolutely fantastic. I had always thought that a quesadilla was a quesadilla; and that you couldn't do anything to make a quesadilla extraordinary. Well, I stand corrected and duly humbled. The Picadillo Quesadilla at Zapata is simply amazing. And the Pescada Quinta Roo (the red snapper filet in a chipotle mango sauce) will teach you what "awesome" really means!

Amazing Food!. So, my husband and I went last night to Zapata in downtown Norcross. This ws our first time in the new location. What struck me as soon as we walked in was that the decor had gone down. On P'tree Pkwy they had great little tables, chairs and decoration on the walls. At this new place the tables and chairs were industrial grade cafeteria style. I'm not sure why they didn't transfer their old furniture and decor from the the previous restaurant location but clearly they must have their reasons.

The menu looked as if it had changed. They brought s chips & salsa which was something I don't remember from before. It scared me for a minute because I thought "uh oh", they've started catering to people who want a regular Mexican "El Azteca" dinner. We were ahppy to see our favorites were still on the menu. The Mole is to die for! Do you know how difficult it is to make Mole? And to do it well? It is amazing! The restaurant is one of our favorites. We absolutely love it and will return again and again....I hope that they do upgrade their furniture. It was so much nicer before.

Not as good as it was. First - ordered 2 top shelf margaritas with two different types of tequila. From our table, I saw the waiter (I don't think he was a bartender) fill two glasses 90% full with some sort of mixer and then top it off with one of the tequilas. He started to pour the same tequila into the second glass when he saw me watching and then hurried over to tell me they were out of Hornitos. I ordered a different tequila, but both margaritas tasted exactly the same and mostly like sweet and sour mix. When I ordered a second margarita I asked for Herrudura and he told me that they were out of that, but he had Hornitos.(?)

Second - I wanted to order dessert for my wife's birthday and asked for a menu. The waitress (they changed servers about halfway through the meal) said okay, started bussing some tables, swept the floor, spoke to another employee for a few minutes and then brought me a menu. While we waited for her to come back I heard the lady seated behind me say that her margarita had no alcohol in it and where did her waitress go to.

The food was not even close to the quality of what I have had in several other visits.

Maybe it was a bad night?

Great venue for rehearsal dinner. We had our rehearsal dinner last month at Zapata in downtown Norcross and the food/ atmosphere was exceptional! I would highly recommend using it for parties of 70 or less, great value for your dollar at this upscale authentic Mexican gem. The owner (Mark) is very easy to work with and even arranged live music for no additonal cost...

My Favorite. This is hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Atlanta area. Delicious and authentic. It is hard to find great mole and they have the best in my opinion.

Real Food...Really Mexican. I really like Zapata. I usually take out lunch due to my hectic schedule but I have dined there for lunch and dinner and have always had a good experience. The pomegranate margaritas are delicioso!!

The prices are good and the food is always fresh. I love their sopes (authentic, delicious). Best of all they prepare them just however I ask and have my food ready FAST! They even include a generous portion of chips and salsa in the takeout bag. If you want spicier salsa all you have to do is ask. They make theirs with chile de arbol, tomato and a touch of avocado...yummy! You have to try to the crema de chile poblano soup...not spicy, creamy and full of flavor. I have never seen anyone do their soup like this...I found it to be very creative. The waiters are cordial yet not sappy and over friendly. The menu is kind of limited but I can tell you that it is authentic Mexican...they don't eat chimichangas or nachos in Mexico!!!

Don't eat here if it takes more than an hour. I just had lunch at Zapata and was asked to leave after an hour and 10 minutes because they wanted to give the table to people waiting. I understand turning tables, but interrupting my conversation with a friend was ridiculous. I will never eat there again.
