Disappointing – Living in Atlanta I have been to Pitty Pat's as a child. My husband who is from Texas had never been so we did the tourist trap thing and went for our date night. Upon entering Pitty Pat's we noticed big oscillating fans and it was quite stuffy. The neat freak in me immediately noticed how dusty the nick knacks were and wanted a vacuum cleaner to tidy up. They open at 5 so we were the first ones there. We we're promptly seated and noticed there were fruit flies everywhere. I mean on the walls , on the nick knacks, on the table and flying around. I didn't let this deter me, it's summertime in Atlanta so fruit flies aren't uncommon. My drink was brought in a dirty glass, it has lipstick around the rim. Then my husband ordered chicken which is really hard to screw up. It was sub par. The salad bar that comes with all the meals for free had salads on it that looked like they had been there awhile, one even had a film on top of it as if it had been out for hours, when they had just opened for business. I ordered the mixed grill of sliced pork and chicken. What I got was sliced fat covered in barbecue sauce. Did I mention the fruit flies, well by this time they were hovering in our face and the people behind us were even swatting at them. The Collard Greens which are also free with your meal had not even been sorted properly and have black spot all over them! No true Southerner would ever serve those! The people behind us had to return their food twice because it was wrong and tasted terrible. There were maybe 20 people in here on a Friday night and I know 2 tables were disappointed. The owner was there as I recognized him and I asked to speak him. He never came over. The manager came over apologized and offered a free meal. We refused as people have bills to pay and families to feed. HOWEVER, we will never go back. What a waste and disgrace to Atlanta and Scarlett O'Hara.
The service was awesome as well as the food. The cup we had for our water was made out of metal and boy did it keep it cold :). The biscuits were warm and wonderful, I wish I would've been able to take some home!! The only down side is it is a bit pricey.
I want their recipes! – Wonderful and I want more. I would enjoy getting some recipes.
Fabulous – We went the day after Thanksgiving. The food was fabulous and the service was great.
I read the reviews and thought about not going. We were glad we went because it was a great evening.
I loved this restaurant! The whole premise was built around Scarlet's Aunt Pitty Pat. There a plenty of pictures from the movie Gone With The Wind too. I had Pork Tenderloin with curried Peanut Sauce which made my mouth do a happy dance!! It was topped with a curried peanut sauce and fresh peanuts. Also on my plate was a
sweet potato and apple dish that was to die for! I wish I had the recipe. My friend and I shared desserts so we could have more than one type. The Georgia Peach Cobbler and the Bourbon Street Bread Pudding were indescribably delicious!! If you are in Atlanta, you've got to eat here, I promise you won't be sorry.
Tucked away in downtown Atlanta, it's sometimes easy to miss Pittypat's Porch. But when you're in town - visiting Pittypat's is a MUST! They are easily the best restaurant in the Atlanta area if you are looking for traditional Southern cooking. The salad bar, the entree, the bread, the speciality drinks... everything is excellent. My favorite is the Bourbon Bread Pudding... you have to save room for dessert at Pittypat's! The atmosphere is great and the service is always second to none! Take the time to find it - it's a dining experience and I NEVER go to Atlanta without making time for dinner at Pittypat's Porch.
Fantastic Experience – We went to Pittypat's Porch on August 31, 2010. This was a return to great memories for us. All of our trips to Atlanta included this restaurant for many years. We were immediately greeted by a host who found the perfect table for the two of us. The menu was explained in detail. All of the staff smiled, took care of us, and acted as if they were genuinely concerned and happy about us being there. And...the live music from the piano just topped it off!!! Even he looked up from the piano keys to greet us. The food was perfectly prepared along with the presentation. Totally out of this world!!!! We were constantly being monitored by the staff to make sure that we had enough of everything. This is a great place to eat, relax, and/or entertain. If we lived in Atlanta, we would have to go at least three times a month!
