Editorial Review for James Joyce Irish Pub & Restaurant – by Alison Embrey
The Scene
Dark mahogany furniture and candlelit tables set the mood for an authentic Dublin-style night on the town, complete with toe-tapping Irish music. The pub's airy, non-smokey ambience and ample seating draws a kid-friendly neighborhood crowd in the dinner hours, with younger barhoppers crawling in around midnight. In the warmer months, a spacious patio, flanked by two cobblestone fireplaces, serves as an inviting spot for live music and outdoor cocktails.
The Draw
The pub pays tribute to Ireland's most cherished icons--beer, potatoes and James Joyce. Enjoy a stout pint of Guinness or any of the 15 other beers on tap or sample the hearty Irish grub--the savory bangers and mash will satisfy any meat-and-potatoes lover. The merry, accent-laden bartenders add to the charm and "Ulysses" fans will especially appreciate the Joyce-inspired menu that honors the great writer and his hallowed homeland.

My family has five members and we have enjoyed going to James Joyce Pub since it opened years ago. We typically go 1-2 times a month. Tonight we had a bad experience. The meal was good but when I got the bill I thought it was high. I noticed that the waitress added an 18% tip to the bill. Since our family has five people, she told me the gratuity was added automatically and it is listed on the menu (but never invoked previously). I was mad because I have never had this automatic surcharge added to my bill, even when I have dined with extra people. I will not be going back to James Joyce until this policy is rescinded.
Pros: Local pub convenient for food and drinks
Cons: Tipping policy bad. Food can be uneven.

This place is horrible... it's a waste of time! Don't bother. There's nothing Irish about this stupid place. Waitstaff is slow and extremely unprofessional. The bartender was more concerned about personal conversations. I had been there before and got their daily special and it was good. They must have new management or something because it is very unorganized, they don't care about the way they treat customers and the food was awful. Seriously, awful. And beer is expensive.... there's no reason to go here... there's plenty of other restaurants in the area - try Wahoo or something.
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
