Solid.. Great beer, better than average food that is a tad pricey, but overall a good place to kick back, relax, and cultivate a solid buzz....

Don't Forget Brunch. James Joyce has a FABULOUS brunch. My favorite (and the fav of many of my friends) is the crab cakes benedict. Enjoying brunch on the comfortable JJ patio is a perfect weekend morning.

With straight-off-the-boat Irish charm, this classic neighborhood pub brings the heart of Dublin to quaint Avondale Estates.. The Scene
Dark mahogany furniture and candlelit tables set the mood for an authentic Dublin-style night on the town, complete with toe-tapping Irish music. The pub's airy, non-smokey ambience and ample seating draws a kid-friendly neighborhood crowd in the dinner hours, with younger barhoppers crawling in around midnight. In the warmer months, a spacious patio, flanked by two cobblestone fireplaces, serves as an inviting spot for live music and outdoor cocktails.

The Draw
The pub pays tribute to Ireland's most cherished icons--beer, potatoes and James Joyce. Enjoy a stout pint of Guinness or any of the 15 other beers on tap or sample the hearty Irish grub--the savory bangers and mash will satisfy any meat-and-potatoes lover. The merry, accent-laden bartenders add to the charm and "Ulysses" fans will especially appreciate the Joyce-inspired menu that honors the great writer and his hallowed homeland.

Best Ribs In Town!!!. This place may be an Irish Pub and specialize in items such as Fish and Chips, Irish Stew, and Sheppards Pie...all of which are great, but the ribs are SPECTACULAR! I've eaten ribs all over this city in BBQ joints and other places that specialize in ribs, but this friendly Irish Pub has them all beat. Give them a try and I'm sure you will agree. Big, tender, meaty, flavorful, perfect sauce. Kudos to the chef behind these devine works of cullenary art! The only drawback to this place is their limited beer choices. They offer a few of the newly available high alcohol content bottled beers, such as Duvel, but should add many more. And if they had them on tap it would be all the better.

Great Food, Fun, and Staff. If you are looking for a place for great food, fun, and excellent service, James Joyce is the place to go. The patio is great, and Thursday trivia is a blast! The bartenders and wait staff are a delight, especially if you're lucky enough to be seated in Bejay's section! Go once and you'll be back time and time again.

Worth many visits!. The atmosphere of the James Joyce is wonderful and you'll feel right at home with the pleasant service. The owners and a chef have talked to me and my guests when they have the time.

I highly recommend two menu options. The restaurant seems to have a fish special nearly every day, and it's always wonderful. Examples include a parmesan crusting, or a horseradish glaze. I've tried three or four of the fish specials and never been disappointed.

My other recommendation is the fantastic plate of ribs. These are really a hidden treasure at a reasonable price. The sauce is smoky with a perfect consistency. Describing the rib meat as "falling off the bone" actually applies here; they are some of the most tender ribs I've ever had.
