Amazing. Bartenders and waitstaff are awesome; I have never had a bad experience since I started going there about 3 years ago. People who I have seen have issues there have been rude themselves. If you're nice, the staff is nice. It's not difficult.

No service, rude wait staff. Atrocious service. I can't comment on anything else because we couldn't get anyone to serve us.

The restaurant was half-empty around 7:00 pm last Saturday, but the wait staff walked by our table several times in 10 minutes without stopping. We finally flagged down a waitress and asked if we could get some service. She said "everyone's busy preparing for a large party that's coming in, you'll just have to be patient." We stopped a second waitress and we were told "everyone's stressing out over a big party that' s coming in, someone will get to you eventually." We asked for the manager and were told they couldn't find him. We finally found the manager and he had the same story -- big party to set up for, everyone's busy, be patient and someone will get around to you. No apologies, no offer to find us a waiter or waitress. Needless to say, we walked out and won't be back.

nice place, poor service. People in Avondale love JJ because it makes them feel like they are living in a real little town. The food here is generally very good. The athmosphere is nice, laidback but civilized. The service is without fail very slow. All entrees are served with a side of indifference. I still eat there pretty regularly.

Avondale aint so bad. This little spot is a grand place for a pint or ten in Avondale. Sure no one that doesnt live near by has any idea where it is but its next to the Waffle House if it helps. Good bartenders and a nice patio for those spring and fall days.

Great Irish Pub! Wonderful atmosphere!. This is a fantastic Irish Pub, very active in the community. It provides a fabulous meeting place for neighbors and visitors to the area and has comfortable indoor and outdoor seating, with fountains and fireplaces on the covered patio...even heaters for chilly evenings. Trivia and other special evenings during the week and a great Sunday brunch menu, as well. TVs are avavilable for sporting events. Give it a try!

Four star food in an Irish pub with a sense of community that can't be beat.. I discovered the James Joyce Irish Pub a little over two years ago. Since then, I have enjoyed the best food and camaraderie to be found in any bar or pub for miles around. My family, friends and colleagues (even vegetarians) all love it there.

The chef's are skilled and the food is anything but pedestrian or pub food as you knew it. Beautiful dishes and great sauces are the norm and brunch is a treat.

I have conducted several successful meetings there. The crowd and the waiters are eclectic and fun. The management is young, very involved and really cares about operations and us customers. It doesn't take long or much energy to become known and involved in the communities of peoples represented there.

Thursday evenings plan to conclude serious conversations before Trivia begins at 8:00 pm, you will want to join in or talk over it.

JOY is back in JOYCE !. Great Irish Pub with all the fixin's! If you haven't been in recently, you must see the changes that I've noticed over the last several years! New menu - that is very Irish and carefully crafted to resemble a James Joyce novel. Irish food that is the best I've ever tried and pub favorites to compliment the visit. My husband and I intend on giving this pub continued support and business! Great waitstaff and atmosphere to boot!

New Menu Takes the "JOY" out of Joyce. James Joyce was a really great place for beer and pub food, until a few weeks ago. James Joyce was a great spot for a Guiness and some really good food, until several weeks ago. That's when they removed all of their great dishes (Panko Fried Chicken, Irish Stew and other Irish favorites) and replaced them with "new American" cuisine" sort of offerings, the stuff you can get any place. There are loads of other establishments around the Decatur area that offer great beer AND fabulous food. I'll not return to James Joyce, unless I hear that they've restored their menu.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. The servers were slow. The food took forever. and to top it all off - I was served a BOWL FULL of RED WINE in my salad!! The waitress told me that red wine was similar to vinagerette dressing and to taste it first before I sent it back because it was expensive wine. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
