Editorial Review for Gobo – by Paul Adams

The Scene
The pristine, peaceful, well-designed room, decorated with plenty of blond wood, serves as a dignified backdrop for the healthful food. An open kitchen runs the length of the room, allowing a view of the busy cooks. The front area features a cozy juice-bar counter. Service is casual, well-informed and very friendly.

The Food
Gobo's food is completely vegan, though not organic. The rich flavors and textures, accentuated by well-crafted sauces and a variety of flavor-enhancing cooking techniques, should satisfy most palates. A dish of chewy smoked seitan evokes Peking duck, while an entree of wide green-tea noodles is served in a tasty faux Bolognese sauce. New England rolls, filled with mushrooms, are excellent. Gobo's scallion pancakes are a bit dry, and the beet salad is low on beets, but the majority of dishes, especially those showcasing vegetables, are delicious in their simplicity.

I dined here with some friends for a birthday dinner and I have to say it was amazing! Every dish was so delicious. I really liked their shitake mushroom w yam dish and their avocado dish (don't remember the name sorry). They did forget to bring out one of the dishes but it was ok because we were already full so we just canceled it. It was reasonably priced and a great experience for us. I would definitely go back!

Pros: Great food and price, ambience

Cons: They forgot our dish but it was ok. It was a busy night.

What an incredible experience! My boyfriend and I were walking around looking for a place to eat and we stumbled upon gobo! What a great find, before we were done eating we couldn't wait for the next time we'd come back! Excellent food and service. We both left their full and we want to come back to try everything on the menu! I recommend making reservations though if you can, otherwise there's a wait. Atmosphere was very peaceful and the menu was really helpful with a few definitions for those people unfamiliar with the different kinds of veg foods.

Pros: excellent food

Cons: make resevations to avoid waiting
