From switchboard to digital, the telephone's first century on exhibit..
Overview
A retro-modern concept, the telephone museum is the invention of the BellSouth Telephone Pioneers, an association of former telephone company employees. On the plaza level of the BellSouth Center downtown, exhibits trace the history of the telephone from the get-go, following its use before and after the switchboard. Funky life-sized models depict operators and installers, while more contemporary displays describe the technology that is transforming telecommunications.
