The Scene
Pasta-lovers, seemingly grateful that authentic Italian has arrived in West Midtown, lean over saucy dishes. A seat, especially at lunch or on weekend nights, is never guaranteed, and often lines are streaming out the door from the tiny counter where you place your order. Old-country trinkets, such as Italian-language cookbooks, black-and-white photos and hand-crank pasta makers, declare fidelity to Italian culture.

The Food
The kitchen reaches past cliches and serves Italian dishes straight from Grandma's house. The eggplant parmigiana appetizer avoids any trace of the bitter or mealy qualities that sometimes plague that dish. Rich salmone sauce pops with fresh peas, best for those with a hearty appetite. Crab and mushroom ravioli waste no space with fillers. The Bolognese is a little bland, though, and the arrabbiata is spicy hot. Save the basket of pre-meal bread to soak up extra sauce at the end of the meal.

Listen up! I've been a chef for about thirteen years now, and I know what good food and what good service look like. Ever since the first time I dined at the Figo on Collier road, I was blown away by how dedicated the staff is, how scrumptious the food is, and how consistent the Figo Pasta's are, no matter what location you choose to dine with. They do a really great job of making sure you feel welcome in their home, and always have smiles and warmth awaiting you. Once when I was having dinner with my husband at Figo on Collier, the owner of Figo, Sandro, came right up to our table and asked us how we were doing and if he could do anything more for us. I have to tell you, that really blew me away! This is how restaurant service should be, and for the price, it may be my new favorite place to enjoy hot, inexpensive, flavorful food. My favorite location is Collier road. Completely flawless. Well done Figo!

I would hesitate to recommend this restaurant. I ordered the "last" salmon salad, only to find that the salmon was terribly overcooked, tough, and dry. I sent that meal back, and ordered the wild mushroom ravioli. The ravioli was UNDERcooked, tough, chewy, and the meat sauce just didn't have enough flavor. It left your taste buds wanting something more that just wasn't there.

Pros: Decorated nicely

Cons: Food, Having to order at the counter
