Editorial Review for Embassy Suites – by Cory Jane Birkett
In Short
In 1984, the first Embassy Suites location debuted in Overland Park, Kan. Today, the property's luxury accommodations make it an ideal hotel for conferences, special events and weddings. All hotel rooms are spacious two-room suites that include a separate living area with a sofa bed and desk, a private bedroom, two televisions, a wet bar, a refrigerator and a coffeemaker. Guests may also attend a nightly reception with beverages.

My stay itself was fine until the next day I got a call from my credit card company asking about unusual charges, and sure enough it was stolen! It was a new card, only ever used at the hotel, so I knew it was either taken from my room or at check-in. I immediately called the hotel to tell them what had happened, and although I was being very nice about it on the phone, the manager was very rude and told me "to quit making accusations I couldn't prove". 2 weeks go by, and police in another town catch the lady who has my card and she confesses it was originally taken by the desk clerk. I told hotel security this (wanting to make sure she was fired so no one else had to go through this), and was given the impression she would be fired. 2 more weeks went by and I check with the hotel to find she's STILL working at the desk..evidently hotel security left a message for the police, then dropped the issue when police didn't call back. I stepped in yet again and had police give the name to the hotel, but even then they would only suspend her because she wasn't officially charged yet. Georgia has very liberal firing laws, but they were more worried about getting sued over firing her than over their guest getting robbed. I also left a message for the General Manager about a month into all of this. He never returned my call, and to this day (2 months later) I've never gotten an apology from anyone at the hotel, for all the hassle I went through having my card stolen (they racked up a lot of charges in 1 day), or even a thank you for all the work I did helping police identify this woman so that they knew who was robbing their guests. Moral of the story...they will be nice to you when you're a guest, but once you're gone they could not care less.
