The Scene
Don't be thrown off by the shabby look of this out-of-the-way spot: Grab one of the booths along the wall and wait for the fun to begin. Lovely silk fabrics hang from the ceiling in a halfhearted attempt to give the place an exotic air. The amusing owner makes corny jokes with everyone--it's just part of the experience.

The Food
There's no menu, no meat and no choice in the matter of your meal. A few minutes after you sit down, someone from the kitchen wheels out a cart with thalis--circular metal trays--for everyone at the table. A thali typically holds dhal (spiced semi-pureed beans), potato curry and another vegetable curry (perhaps eggplant, cauliflower or an unusual Indian squash), fresh bread--either naan or poori (puffy fried bread)--homemade yogurt, plain rice, and a little something sweet. Everything's delicious, and it's all-you-can-eat. Don't forget to ask for the wonderful chutneys.

We ordered food from this place for my father-in-laws birthday party. We walked in Vatica and were called dogs! Someone that works at the place thought it was funny to call customers dogs wearing Georgia sweatshirts. Upon finding out my wife graduated from Georgia and went to law school, he called my wife a "liar, not a lawyer!!!!!!!" On top of the rude service, the food was terrible. Palaak Panner and Eggplant was awful. I am not saying that because of the rude service. $80 for two half trays! Insane! I would have walked out if we did not have so many people coming to the party. In these tough economic times, why waste your money on bad food and really, really, rude service. I give this place an F on every level!

Really good Indian food. We visits every month or so for dinner. It is a set menu, and it is a little different every time and always good. Our plate is always refilled and we never leave hungry. The location isnt the prettiest though I dont mind it. The price may seem high, but truly Indian food is always expensive and this is all you can eat of 5 to 6 different dishes. I like the variety. The owner always remembers us and is really funny. I recommend this place to anyone who wants great food and service and not concerned about the looks of the place.

This place is a great one to go for lunch--it's near my boyfriend's work and I often meet him here. The thalis are excellent and everything is always fresh.
