I appreciate my expierence

by WizdomInk at Citysearch

I went to Daly's in September 2008. From day one, I became close to the female staff. I was the only female student in the school at the time and still felt comfortable.

At first, I felt things weren't too organized as far as how things went out on the pad and when it came time to go for our test I spoke with Mr. Daly and let him know that even though the instructor's felt I could pass I didn't and he allowed me to continue practicing until I felt comfortable to go to Gainesville.

I was not easy to teach at first and couldn't really grasp backing. Even though I had been on a truck for a few year OTR I had never driven one. I was a clean slate and went from learning how to shift to everything else. Lol Dee and Sherry can give you the story of my first day on the truck lol! As soon as I was taught to put it in gear and the truck moved I got scared and screamed “turn it off” as I let go of the wheel and removed both legs from the pedal area lol… that was great…. We laughed alottttttttt, I cried inside a lot, and at times we bumped heads but they never gave up on me even when I wanted to.

I passed my pre-trip and maneuvers first shot but I didn't pass at Gainesville’s original road test and Ann flipped. They supported me and backed me when I was given a bum deal at DDS not just once either. Mr. Daly even spoke up for me to DDS. I eventually quit. After some time *months* had passed and I had time to cool down, I received a letter asking me how I was doing and asked to come back and try again.

That felt so special to me that they cared even though they were already paid for their services. When I did come back they let me come in to refresh things for free and I received my license Class A in January 2009.

The new facility is amazing compared to the old. lol @ the second pad we trained on. *smile*

I care so much for the staff > they have become like an extended family to me. I'm still in touch with some n some students I've met. Mr. Daly is straight forward, kind, and someone you can really come to and just be real about the situation with. They will do whatever they can to help you.

Key thing is YOU have to be willing to work hard and learn. The days were long but many times I felt I needed more time.

The support and belief they had in me got me through. They all at one point or another have pulled me to the side and told me that I'd be a hell of a driver and that meant a lot. Now I am!

I saw a lot of students not passing while few did. Some will never - some shouldn't be allowed to. That's life.

Overall, I appreciate the experience and am glad I went to Daly’s.

Best School In Georgia

by Rickie at Citysearch

I just want to say thank you to everyone at Daly's. NOt to mention names but several years ago I attended another school in ATL and it doesn't even compare to Daly's. Unfortunately if you don't use your CDL for a few years you have to return to school. Daly's is the best, the trucks are new models, the building is awesome, even the owner is out there training.

If you have a few issues on your background the placement dept. will try to help you-they helped me I start a local drop next week!!!

Thanks everyone.

  • Pros: Patience, price, job placement
  • Cons: train in rain and long hours

Daly's Great

by rd3334 at Citysearch

My Brother, Father and myself went thru dalys. They help you get thru your test at the state and really help out with employment. We all run a CDL towing business in the Athens area. Sully and Sons Towing. We sent 2 guys there last year to get trained and they made it thru like planned. I highly recomend these guys especially because it's a family business and I work in a family business so maybe I'm partial. These guy really care about your success thats why they always be in business.

I'm writing this because Mr. Daly treated me and my family very well and gave me an opportunity to make something great for myself and my family.

I think this Lori person is way off base and question her motives. I can't help but suspect that she might do better examining why she was unsuccessful instead of blaming the school for her lack of abilities. The fact that she didn't get licensed tells me she shouldn't be out there on the roads anyway.

  • Pros: Great training
  • Cons: none
