Editorial Review for Hot Wok – by Min Kye
The Scene
Located between an abandoned movie theater and a boating store, Hot Wok is chile manna for many Atlantans. The experience starts in the parking lot where the smell of spice and garlic lures diners in. With its spice-colored walls and mock thatched roofs, the interior is reminiscent of the "Miss Saigon" set. A large mural depicting a vegetable garden and villagers carrying baskets of produce adds to the colorful decor.
The Food
The Chinese menu may look familiar, but everything here is cooked with a fiery Indian flair. Manchow soup is hot and sour soup with extra chili pepper bite. Spring rolls are served with a duck sauce kissed with green-chili flavor that manages to be tangy, sweet and peppery all at once. Curry fish is made with fresh, slightly sweet fish and a bold ginger-curry sauce. Noodle dishes are true Indian-Chinese fusion. They're made with typical lo mein noodles, but instead of that ubiquitous brown sauce, the noodles are infused with chili oil and curry.

I went to Hot Wok yesterday and frankly, I was majorly disappointed. The food claims to be Indian style Chinese, but I have never eaten these kinds of recipes in India ever. The sauces were really weird. The soups were good, I must say, but everything else was very different (not in a good way though)

I used to love this place. I found an insect in noodles. It was disgusting. I will not be going there again.
