User Reviews for Classic Cadillac & Subaru

3 Star Rating: Average

I recently purchased an car from Classic Subaru, and my experience was okay - but certainly not above average. I was impressed with the thoroughness of the sales person I spoke with. Unlike other dealerships that I visited he took the time to point out every detail of the SUV that I was looking at. He was pleasant and not pushy. He seemed confident that Subaru would sell it self based on it's merits, and that it was more his job to point out it's functions as opposed to encouraging me to buy it. When it came to negotiating the price that was an entirely different matter. It was clear from the beginning that the "sales person" I was working with did not have the authorization to negotiate. Every time it came down to actually lowering the price below sticker, he would need to talk to his manager. After about a week of phone calls - and his essential refusal to respond in detail to my emails - I came back into the office to further discuss the price. This time, the manager came our of his office to talk with me. The negotiation essentially consisted of me saying I could pay X price, while they essentially pointed out I was already getting a good deal. I big point of contention was their unwillingness to discuss the price until they saw my trade in. I tried to explain that wasn't my concern, because I needed to know I was paying a good price (via trade in, cash, etc) without consideration of my trade. This was a point they never were able to understand. When all was said and done I think I ended up paying at least $1500 more then I should have. In the end Classic Subaru ended up with a good deal, and I ended up with a good car. It could have been much worse.

Pros: Subaru is a good automobile

Cons: You might not get the best price
