Really Cool Hotel.
Looking for someplace trendy and fashionable to stay - look no more - The W Hotel is the place to stay.
This place is beautiful just to walk through and enjoy the decor - it is really funky and fun.
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Excellent service and cuisine. Love the South Beach like interior. Would highly recommend this hotel for locals and visitors as well.
For a W, nice but not great. I recently stayed two nights at the W. As usual for a W, the staff was friendly and attentive. The room was spotless and comfortable. But I've grown to expect more from a W. The W has a nice outdoor firepit and outside seating to enjoy conversation or enjoy a cocktail. The only disappointment is the one bar is very small and not conducive for conversation as it is between the elevator, front desk and front door.
Don't let the lobby fool you. While the lobby may say W, the rooms sure as heck don't. The rooms are lackluster and have little or no design element like other W's do. I had to change my room 4 times. The first, there was someone else already staying in the room, the second, the room hadn't been cleaned at all and the last, was near the noisy elevator shaft. The folks at the front desk aren't hospitable at all. I'd at least deal with some attitude if the hotel was as up to par with some of the W's better locations (Union Square, Lakeshore). Strange that this hotel made the Best of Citysearch list. Do yourself a favor and book a room elsewhere.
The lobby and bar area are very beautiful.... ...but not nice enought to put up with bad service. My date and I had drinks and not only did they get my drink wrong but no one came back to check on us for over an hour! We had to flag down a waiter to order another drink. And after all that, they had the nerve to put a gratuity on the check.
Minimalist chic rules at the urban professional's dream hotel..
The Scene
Stark, light and oh-so-cool, the W defines the boutique hotel movement. Open since February 1999, the hotel has quietly been attracting Atlanta's discerning business travelers with its amenity-laden rooms and image-conscious staff.
The Details
The suites come dressed with blond-wood furniture, pillow-top beds, goose-down comforters and 250-thread-count linens. Each room is stocked with Aveda bath products. Indoor leisure opportunities include its relaxed Living Room space, health club and dry sauna. Outside, you'll find a deck, pool, whirlpool and tennis courts. Savu provides a high-class dining option, while the W Cafe offers a more relaxed atmosphere for drinks and light refreshments.
Great style, inconvenient locatio. This W location is one of the first that the boutique chain built. It's very stylish and is what you would expect from a W; the decor at this one is predominantly blue, tan & white. But this isn't the jewel in their crown -- it's not near downtown or the other main business or attraction areas. And the staff here isn't quite as efficient or on top of their game as the other locations where I've stayed (a wake-up call that was two hours early, a burned-out light bulb in the room, room service order not quite right, etc.). Still, the rooms are super-comfortable, and it's hands-down the best hotel in Atlanta style-wise.
Not up to par. This is a nice hotel, all things considered, but not even close to the level of the W's I have stayed at in other cities. They did what seems like a halfway job of converting this from a 70's era business traveler hotel, and while the lobby and the amenities are nice, the finishes in the rooms are not up to snuff.
For something modern. Give this hotel a try. It's posh, caters to the business travelers, and attracts some of the beautiful people. The lobby welcomes you with great music & candles (in the evening). The rooms are decorated in the same style as the lobby with truly-stated "heavenly beds." For leisure travel, the prices can be elevated; however, the location is great. It's tucked away ten minutes from the Midtown area (Buckhead) & Lenox mall via the toll bridge.
