Excellent Dining Experience!. My girlfriend and I went to McKendrick's in February to celebrate her birthday. I'm so glad we picked McKendrick's! The food was outstanding! The service was extremely friendly and our waiter was very knowledgeable. We each had a filet mignon and ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes and mushrooms. Both sides were delicious and I can't remember the last time I had such an amazing filet. The meat was perfectly grilled and seasoned to perfection. After dinner, they brought a complimentary slice of cake for my girlfriend. It was a turtle ice cream cake and it was out of this world! We will definitely go back there again!!

I won't go there again!. We went to celebrate a birthday and expected more from a steakhouse in Dunwoody. We live in dunwoody and were thrilled wihen we called and were told there were plenty of tables available, especially since this was St. Patrick's Day.

When we arrived, the valet staff was prompt and courteous. The trouble began when we approached the front door. The cigarette/cigar smoke was very overwhelming and followed us into the restaurant. The reception was cold, as was the entire experience. We really felt like we weren't welcome at the restaurant and the staff was just putting up with us.

The wait person was very nonchalant and not very helpful. In fact his attitude bordered on insolent. The steak was not cooked to order so we had to send it back. It was brought back almost immediately and still not to order. The server never came back. We caught a manager walking by about 15 minutes later, who immediately returned the steak and got it prepared correctly. A new server brought the steak back and we never saw the original server again. Although we were offered a free dessert for our trouble, the entire experience was just too upsetting.

Because this is a highly rated and expensive restaurant, we deserved a personal apology from the manager and better service than we got. I will most definitely NEVER visit thes restaurant again. I will also never recommend it to anyone. A very disappointing experience indeed.

best steak restaurant ever. I came here with my business associates the other day for lunch. It was the first time for all of us. We were so impressed with the quality of the food, service but mostly how reasonable priced all the lunch items are. One cant go wrong..We started with the jumbo shrimp cocktail and the lump crabcakes. The crispy capers on top of the crabcakes was the perfect touch. For our meal we all ordered something different so we could have a bite of one anothers. The salmon steak and filet were the hits. Each was perfectly prepared and seasoned just right. Our server, Marcus was attentive but not intrusive. He recomended certain menu items that McKendricks was known for,but he also was not pushy. He truly wanted us to enjoy.

If you need to conduct business, impress, but not be sticker shocked, I stongly recommend Mckendricks.

Mckendricks is Horrible!. My wife and I went to Mckendricks Steakhouse for a seldom night out away from the kids. We hadn't been for a while because of a not so good experience with Mckendricks Steakhouse food.

HOLY COW! We told the staff about our previous experience and all they did was make excuses and basically say it must have been our fault!!! Can you believe that?

Well to say the least...the rest of the evening was a nightmare. The staff treated us like crap. They told us how the economy had forced them to cut their staff (probably food quality also) and not give free food away.

Needless to say we will never go back to these egotistical idiots again! Try NY Prime, Bones, or Hal's instead. Anything is better tahn this place.

Great food, but obnoxious, juvenile staff. Went to McKendrick's about a week ago after having heard a lot of great things about it. My friend and I were immediately taken aback when we felt we were being sized up by the hostess Amy. Not sure what that was all about. Fortunately, the food was really good - the filet and ribeye were spectacular, melted in our mouths. And the desserts are huge! However, some of the wait staff seemed to have attitude and they seemed more interested in flirting than actually providing attentive service. I'd like to go back, because the food was great. Maybe it was just an off night.

Excellent wine collection goes hand in hand with mouth watering steaks!!. My date and I are going to dinner and we drive by this place. So we decide to stop and give it a try. As my date and I entered the restraunt, we were greeted promptly and taken to our seats. They give you free bread and water to calm your hunger down. We had steaks and a king salmon, which is not on the menu and is ONLY served 1 out of 12 months of the year. Side ordere of mushrooms and mac & cheese. Oh yea and a 900.00 bottle of wine. The bill was about 1000.00. The steak will ALWAYS be pink on the inside and burnt outside. Mushrooms, Mac and cheese tastes great with seasoned flavors. Neat place. I will come back.

BEST STEAK. THIS PLACE HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST STEAK HOUSE THAT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. WE ENJOYED THE FILET MIGNON AS WELL AS THE EXCELLENT SERVICE THE PATRONS PROVIDED FOR US.

Great steaks if on the company's dime. I've been to this location several times for business and pleasure. I would recommend this restaurant if: you prefer your steaks prepared with a light char on the outside, if you're having a nice business lunch/dinner, or if you're limited to restaurants in the Perimeter Mall area. The steaks here are excellent, the only criticism being that there always seems to be one person in the party with a grossly overcooked steak. Most sides serve 3, 4 if small portions - the only side I would advise against is the au agratin as it isn't as flavorful as their other potato options. The clientele and restaurant atmosphere tend to lend itself better to a business meal than a romantic date. Also, the service staff doesn't seem to match the price point when it comes to both appearance (the waiters looks like bus boys with their uniform jackets) and service (don't offer to decant the wine or de-shell the lobster tail). The food is great, but their prices tend to leave you feeling a little unsatisfied. There are other alternatives in Atlanta with comparable steaks, better service, and that little something special/unique in the preparation for the same bill. A party of two should expect to pay $170+ including drinks and dessert. *Tip 1: salads are large and can be shared. Tip 2: the valet is unnecessary at off-peak times, plenty of free parking literally steps from the valet stop.

Poor ownership. I travel all over the country for a national company and eat at many of the countries top establishments. An associate of mine recommended this restaurant as an upscale place for a business dinner. We had a party of four, three men and a woman, and my guests were clients that work for a national chain.

Three hours of enjoyable company, incredible food, great wine and excellent service, thanks to Heather and Jeffrey, all came to an unhappy ending when we were leaving the restaurant. While exiting our table and proceeding to the entrance of the restaurant, an employee of the restaurant at the host stand approached our female guest, who was the wife of one of the gentleman, my client, in our party. At that point, the restaurant employee handed her a folded piece of paper and told her, in a voice that was audible to all, "You have a secret admirer". He also intimated that he had done this in the past, pass notes to customers as a go between. We were in disbelief as we walked out and somewhat stunned as we left. After some discussion, the wife convinced her husband not to go back inside and confront the employee.

I returned to the restaurant the next day and spoke to the manager that was on duty. I explained to her exactly what had happened. She was speechless. I told her that I was not looking for any gain other than I thought the restaurant ownership owed the wife of my client and him an apology. She was very concerned about the incident and took my business card so that I could be contacted by the owner. Here it is seven days later and no call, nothing. Complete indifference. I guess the ownership of this establishment approves of their employees acting as pimps to pick up a few extra dollars.

All I can do now is spread the word to all of my business associates that travel to Atlanta, do not eat at this restaurant and why. I am also emailing this review to everyone in my address book and encouraging them to pass it to everyone they know.
