FOUND A COCKROACH IN HOT CHOCOLATE.
THERE WAS A FULL SIZED COCKROACH IN OUR HOT CHOCOLATE.
My mom, my sister-in-law and I went to Intermezzo for some dessert. We ordered two hot chocolates, a mimosa, and a sambuco cake. My mom ate all of the whipped cream off the hot chocolate first with her spoon then began to drink the hot chocolate itself. She drank more than half of her hot chocolate before realizing the disgusting cockroach floating upside down.
My mom didn't even notice anything at first. I thought it was chocolate shaving. My sister-in-law found it strange and took her spoon and scooped it up. We both screamed out loud and she dropped the spoon back into the cup. My mom then went to the restroom to vomit. It took us forever to get the attention of a host. Once we got the manager, things got worse. The manager didn’t take responsibility and all she said was "I didn't put it there." and "It already happened, and I can't do anything." As a manager she should’ve AT LEAST asked if there's anything she could do for us regarding the incident. She then brought a male manager. He comes up to us and has the nerve to ask how we would like to take care of the bill. SERIOUSY? My mom needs to go to the doctor's for a check-up now. I just wish to warn you about my horrifying experience here so everyone can reconsider before you end up drinking cockroaches.
Great Ambiance. I like to go here every now and than to get the cafe intermezzo and have some tiramisu. It gets busy on the weekends so be prepared to wait if you have a large party. Great experience if you are from out of town. Would totally recommend it.
A Great Find. My wife and I came upon this restaurant by fate. We were planning on eating lunch at another restaurant that is located in the same development, but was closed. As we walked by the open patio seating for Cafe Intermezzo, we got a quick look at some of the dishes others had ordered, and they all looked good, so we ended up trying them out. We were both very pleased that we did. The food, service, and atmosphere were all great. I tried a simple mushroom-onion-spinich omlet that was perfect. Not overcooked or undercooked, and full of flavor. The best thing we had was the orange crepe. Wow, that was the best tasting dessert I have had in a long time. Every bite was a pleasure. We will definately be making this restaurant one of our regular stops when we visit Atlanta.
Party of six. Arriving as a party of six with a fwe parys of four and deuces ahead of us. Told wait would be 15 minutes. After 25 minutes and 6 to 8 partys including a six after After addressing the staff and asking for their honesty they said it is hard to predict, maybe 10 to 15 minutes wait... We left. 30 minutes later we got the call to be seated. Total wait an hour. Limo waiting $100 bucks. worth it? Not.
Great Place for Coffe.
We went for a dinner a night a go and there we are seted by a General Manager Jacob. They realy care about the service which is more then nice, but how about the food?Same thinghs are going on ecxept the cook line wich is terrible in mixing any good spices whit no common sense. In some case they even don't know which one makes the dish real.I love the Crepes there but a spanish crapp cake hes it's horribly taste thanks to basil aoly souse which kills the whole dish.
It is a good place and I really love to come back at any time of the night or day to enjoy the nice ambience ,good conversation around the Bar and get some european style adventure
We eat everything ,but that place rocks. We went for a diner five times ,but all that we got is a memories of good cakes also nice people around and great atmosphere which is very close to European one .I love the music they play every now and I am very impressed of the way they do the business.Drinks are inexpensive ,but I can't tell the same for the food which is the biggest deal of my visit. No spices at all or too mach garlic on my side dish salad which comes with the spicy hummus platter.
Great Ambiance & Perfect Date Setting.
Best part of Cafe Intermezzo is the setting. Dim candle light guarantees and romantic or intimate rendez-vous.
The drink menu is huge, I go for either:
Bellini (Peach Juice & Champagne)
Cara Mia (Mango Nectar & Champagne)
Bianco Cappuccino
Tea (huge selection as well, ask for an extra pot of water)
Food Menu:
Seafood Risotto is my husband’s favorite
Hummus: The traditional kind is my fav
Desserts:
Nutella Crepes! DELISH! I like to get mine with strawberries on the side
Tiramisu, delish as well!
Gelato: I love their Cappuccino Gelato, except one time recently I got it and it didn’t taste right, but every other time it has been good.
Specialty drinks and desserts rule at the second location of Atlanta's best European-style bistro..
Boasting an intimate atmosphere rival to its Buckhead sister, Intermezzo is perfect for a date or when rolling in numbers. The ceiling-to-floor windows and wall-lining-mirrors create an open feeling, and the candles and low lighting keep it cozy. The cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, but the glass case full of desserts and the separate menu for drinks makes it clear what the focus is really on. Open until 2am on the weekends you can expect things to get hopping the closer it gets to closing time. There's a good mix to the crowd, from casual to dressy, couples to parties. If you're in the mood for an adult beverage but not a coffee fixture--try the Barcardi cocktail--it has a robust, fruity flavor without being overly-sweet.
High Marks
"This place is for couples. The dim lighting, along with fruit, cheese, and great wine makes the perfect date place." (nikkijj, Citysearch user)
"If you walk around the cafe, you will hear about five or six different languages being spoke amongst the diverse customer base. It is very romantic and charming." (finewinester, Citysearch user)
"Intermezzo is the only place in Atlanta to get a truly European feel in a cafe." (slimcactus, Citysearch user)
Low Marks
"We had to get up and find someone everytime we needed something, and I just got the impression that the wait staff there just didn't care." (KikiGrantPark, Citysearch user)
"I used to love to go here because of the quality of the product/drinks but the service is starkly lacking..." (pbenja1, Citysearch user)
Mold on my cake!. We went there last night for dessert and drinks after dinner at Eclipse de Luna. Service was a little slow even though there were hardly anyone there. First, my friend's tea cup was dirty and it took them a long time just to bring her another cup. Then when the desserts finally came ($7.85 per piece of cake!), mine had mold on it and the other two tasted a little stale! We couldn't believe it! We won't be returning again that's for sure!
Worst Service I've Ever Received.
I just went to Cafe Intermezzo today for a friend's bridal shower. Although we called ahead for reservations a week before, the wait staff acted clueless and could find no record of our reservation. Despite the fact that there were only two other people in the restaurant at the time, they acted like they were doing us a favor by setting up a table for 9 "on the spot." Once we were seated, solicitors selling makeup products (in a restaurant???) came in and to my horror, rather than send them away , our waitress looked at their products and did nothing as they approached our table to pitch their bogus makeup to us. Even though we kept repeating that we were not interested in their makeup and were annoyed that they were even trying to sell things to us, the waitress did nothing to remove them from the restaurant.
Things just never really got better from there. We had to get up and find someone everytime we needed something, and I just got the impression that the wait staff there just didn't care. If I managed that restaurant I would be appalled that my customers were treated the way we were treated today. I will never return to this restaurant, and I would never recommend it to anyone.
