Tips for Cafe Intermezzo

Worst experience ever. I called into intermezzo to pickup 5 coffees as we were in a hurry. I was assured it would be ready in 10 minutes. Upon arrival I was directed to two separate bar areas and no one seemed to know where I could pick up my drinks. I finally was told the bartender just put in my order "For MY convenience so the coffee could remain WARM". Ater delaying me further by 15 minutes they handed my my coffee. Upon checking the coffee's they were all missing the main ingredient Butterscotch. I went back to talk to the manager, who promptly gets into a yelling match with the rude disgruntled employee who makes the drinks. The employee screams that there is no more butterscotch - why she failed to let me know before I paid $5 for each drink I have no idea. But the manager tells her to make me a comparable drink to which the employee refuses and delays me by another 20 minutes. I used to love to go here because of the quality of the product/drinks but the service is starkly lacking and the level of incompetence and insubordination is unbelievable. Do not go here if you are expecting an overall pleasing experience.

Take a date! Take a date! Take a date!. This place is for couples. The dim lighting, along with fruit, cheese, and great wine makes the perfect date place. It also has a drink menu out of this world, it really is something for everyone. And the desserts are awesome. This is a great place to start or end a night.

Great late night desert bar and well worth the wait!. Cafe Intermezzo in Dunwoody was great: Food, service, wait for seating, everything.

We went to Cafe Intermezzo after a movie and discovered they were still on an hour wait. But instead of giving us one of those clunky restaurant pagers, they had a very cool wait management system that I had to ask about because it really helped keep us at the restaurant instead of going some place else or home. They used a system by Queuent that called us on our mobile phones when seating was available. So even though we had to wait an hour, we didn't have to wait at the bar and window shopped around the local stores while we waited. When we were called (after about 50 minutes of waiting), we were at the other end of the shopping center but the system let us delay by 15 minutes. When we returned to Cafe Intermezzo they sat us at the very next table.

For being on an hour wait, the restaurant didn't seem that crowded but all the tables were full and everything was very smooth and easy to navigate. The server greeted us at our table and was very professional. We ordered drinks while we looked over a very well designed menu. The drinks were served within a few minutes and we ordered the cheesecake - A great late night treat in my opinion.

All in all, a great casual night out for my wife and I. Highly recommended for a dinner + movie + dessert night. And being able to walk around instead of standing in a crowded restaurant waiting for a table, really kept the evening going.

For your late night sweet tooth. The cafe is located across Perimeter Mall and its almost a hidden secret. There's a garden in the middle of the shopping center if you wanna walk around. Its a very romantic and unique place to be. They have the best deserts and an incredible huge selection of coffee and drinks from around the world! They also have a dinner menu with delicious selections. The ambience is like a French cafe. They close late around 1am-2am! Be careful trying all those drinks, it can get a little expensive.

Not for typical Americans. I am so disturbed looking at these poor reviews. I have been going to Intermezzo for about 12 years and it has always been a great European escape. The beverage menu is over 40 pages with an excellent selection of rare spirits, 30+ types of martinis and beers from around the world. Not to mention pages of exquisite espresso drinks and a tasty variety of appetizers and desserts. I can't tell you how many times I have overheard obnoxious Americans complaining about their waters not being filled and how they have to wait. Then you can't help but notice all of the Europeans, sipping on their beverage of choice and enjoying great conversation or a good book. It is sad to see the Americans rush, rush, rush...inhaling their food and not taking the time to enjoy the atmosphere and relax. What's the hurry? I myself am an American, so I can only imagine how annoying we seem to the Europeans. True, the service is not extremely fast but that is all part of the European kauffeehaus concept. I often enjoy chatting with the employees and I have met some very interesting people from all over the world. The waitstaff and management are quite friendly and mostly European, and have some very interesting stories if you just take the time. They sometimes have French lessons playing in the bathroom and also a display on the inside of beautiful photos taken all around the world. If you walk around the cafe, you will hear about five or six different languages being spoke amongst the diverse customer base. It is very romantic and charming. So yes, I highly suggest visiting Intermezzo, but if you are a typical American...the Starbucks drive-thru is more your speed.

Great Concept, Poor Execution. Intermezzo is the only place in Atlanta to get a truly European feel in a cafe. The ambience is superb, and the drink selection is wonderful, though pricey. You can enjoy top shelf liquors as well as wordly beers here. Unfortunately, the service is also very European, meaning nearly non-existent. If you're the type of person that gets annoyed the second your water glass is empty, stay away. If you are looking for a laid-back evening of good taste, you will enjoy Intermezzo.

Just as bad as the original. We have had so many bad experiences at the original Cafe Intermezzo; we thought this location might be better. The waitstaff are as inattentive and rude here as they are on Peachtree. It took forever for the waiter to come over. There were two other waitresses standing around talking whose attention i couldn't get until I walked over to the counter. When the waiter finally came over, he misunderstood me, and brought the wrong thing. When the bill came, I had been charged for his mistake. Furthermore, as another reviewer described, the waitstaff wouldn't make eye contact with us, so I couldn't flag one of them down. I even considered leaving without paying we waited so long for the bill. I will never, ever, patronize either location again.

Extremely Bad Service!!. I hosted a group of 19 at Cafe Intermezzo last night. We could not make advance reservations due to the fact that this restaurant requires a $5 per person deposit for large parties!!! That said, we didn't expect stellar service - what we got was atrocious! The food came out sporadically and the waitress did not check on us or offer any explanation as we all sat w/empty drinks and no water. At times she ignored us completely...walking by our table and looking the other way so no one could flag her down...the whole time 2-4 other wait staff were standing around doing nothing!!! I did want to try their dessert...unfortunately she never came back to take my order. I won't be returning!

GREAT CHEESECAKE. My friend and I visited Cafe Intermezzo about 3 weeks ago after dinner. We really enjoyed the ambience and especially enjoyed the sweet potato cheesecake-a great twist on cheesecake.
