Great service, friendly staff, perfect for romantic dates. My boyfriend made reservations here for Valentines Day. If it's a special holiday be sure to make reservations as he called a week in advance and there were only two times available - 5:30PM and 9:00PM so we took the 5:30. You can choose between valet parking or the free parking lot directly beside the hotel. We were seated immediately as there were not many people there by the time we arrived, but within 30 minutes every seat was filled. The staff pulls out your chair for you and even though there was not an empty seat in the place, the service was incredible. It was almost like there was a waiter for each table. The food is very authentic and even the wait staff had italian accents. For appetizers - the lobster bisque is decent and the portebellas exceeded my expectations as they were delicious. My entre was decent (the grouper), but it was not the best I've ever had. My boyfriends entre (the new york strip) was incredible and highly recommended. As for the atmosphere - extremely romantic - after our meal we took a walk through the outdoor paths that are lined with lights and waterfalls (this is your view during the meal). Upon leaving, they adorned each girl with a single rose as it was Valentines Day. Don't expect to leave without paying over $100 for two people, but for the special occation, it was perfect.

Excellent entrees. This restaurant, located in the Crowne Plaza, is definitely worth a stop on any fine dining itinerary. My sister and I visited for lunch and when we got to the entrees, I could completely understand the AAA four diamond rating.

For one, the atrium of the Crowne Plaza is absolutely amazing. To get to "La Grotta" you descend stone steps through a jungle waterfall, ending at glass doors which continue the stream and more waterfalls outdoors. It reminded me a little of FLW's "Fallingwater". It's really stunning. At the bottom of the stairs, you turn left for the restaurant.

La Grotta had two large parties going on that day, so we were shown to a small back room. It was early and we had the room to ourselves at first. The service was attentive, but as the room filled up with locals, became a bit less so.

We started with bread with parmesan dipping oil. Then we ordered the Caprese salad to share. While nice, at that point, I was not overly impressed. I then ordered the daily special grilled salmon, which came in a red wine sauce that day. It was absolutely perfectly prepared. It was moist, flaky and flavorful. I can't remember ever having a better salmon dish. I was extremely impressed. My sister had the Grilled Chicken Casalinga, which was also absolutely wonderful.

All in all, this restaurant seems to have some of the best entrees in the area. It will definitely be on my list for my next visit to Atlanta.

I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. I read some of the previous reviews and was a bit skeptical to go, but ended up here one night with a large business dinner of about 45 guests. I have to say that I was impressed--enough so, in fact, to come back again a few weeks later with my wife and some friends for dinner and experienced what amounted to a phenomenal dinner, service and all. Hint: there is a cool walking garden out behind the Ravinia complex good for a late night romantic stroll after dinner.

Good food. I like La Grotta. The food is great. However, the restaurant on Peachtree is definitely more formal. The wait staff there is at the top of their game. In contrast, the staff at the Perimeter (Ravinia) location are less polished. If you are going to pay the same price, and you would like a more polished experience, go to the Peachtree restaurant.

Caution!!!! Avoid at all COST!!!. We were celebrating new year's eve at this location. We are regulars at the peachtree location and we were going to try this location for a change. What a big mistake. Except the name, nothing is same. I had crab cake as an appetizer and it was burnt outside and uncooked inside. The veal was so tough my steak knife couldn't cut through it. We had pinot grigio with our food and it was so old, it was flat!!! Worst of all, there were fruit flies flying over our bread basket. What a horror!!! Service was no where to be found. If you want to have a good dining experience go to La Grotta on Peachtree, but avoid going to Ravinia. You will be wasting your money.

Great Food, Poor Service. We went to Dunwoody location last night to celebrate our anniversary. Food was excellent, but the service was certainly the slowest/non-attentive I've experienced in any restaurant. Ten to fifteen minutes passed after seating before anyone approached us. Our waiter finally took our order, but then proceeded to have lengthy discussions (10-15 minutes) with other tables about the menu and their orders before submitting our choices to the kitchen. The third table he visited during order taking had almost finished their meals before ours arrived. It took 30 minutes after initial pouring to get our wine glasses refilled. The only service that happened in a timely fashion was the refilling of our water glasses. We're going to try the Buckhead location next time in hope of a better experience. I'd give the food a "10" rating, but the service deserves a "2".
