does not care if you don't have money on hand...
by JadeHecate
I took my dog on Saturday to be seen he was very sick and I didn't know what was wrong with him...My usual vet was closed. I wanted to have them look at my dog and see if there was anything I needed to do until I could get to my vet on Monday, but one of the staff asked to see my dog so we went out to my truck and I told her that he had not been eating he had loss of balance and breathing funny. She looked at my dog and when he relieved him self she says" he has blood in his urine and that's not good.... She then started to tell me how much it would cost and what the doctor would most likely do. I then told her that he has an appointment next month to update his shots and that the one problem I have at the moment is that this weekend was the weekend that all of my paycheck went to bills and I don't get paid again until Friday, as soon as she heard that she stopped me and said (not even caring that I could prove that I could pay the bill and I only live like 3 blocks away) "the doctor is not in and you can bring him back when you get paid!!!" what kind of insensitive person says something like that? I spent all weekend on the internet making phone calls and not one person could or would help me. So needless to say I'm just sitting here watching my dog die and there's nothing I can do about it.. I don't even know whats wrong with him.. I will never go back to this place again. They don't even deserve a rating... I had 5 puppies last year come down with parvo and my vet helped me out with out question and with out a huge vet bill.
Always excellent care

I've been using this vet for 10 years, and over the years, they have cared for two cats and are currently caring for my two pit bulls. I've boarded my animals here, and the assistants know them by name, and my dogs love coming to the vet! Dr. Abara is kind, unhurried, and willing to discuss how to keep costs low. When one of my pit bulls was injured over Thanksgiving last year, Dr. Abara saw her immediately, and then referred us to an animal hospital that had 24-hour care, saying that he didn't want her to be alone in his facility over the holiday, and that they would only be in twice a day to check the animals. The bill from the other hospital was $1100--money that Tri-City didn't get! I really appreciated their honesty, and their willingness to put my pet's well-being before their pocketbooks.
- Pros: Polite, friendly, remember me and my dogs between visits
- Cons: not always well organized
Each doctor charges different prices
by corno1
My wife and I went a week and a half ago to get my terrier a dental cleaning. On friday we set up an appointment and were quoted a price of $150 by the head doctor, Dr. Abara. When we went to drop of our dog Monday, there was a different doctor on duty and the front desk clerk presented us with a price of $180. We tried to get them to lower it to the promised amount. We didn't get to speak with the female doctor and the staff at the front desk said we were being charged for a catheter. From $150 to $180 is a big difference and other places in Atlanta charge as little as $125.We took our dog home instead and we were told that we would get a call from Dr. Abara the same day to discuss the problem. We DID NOT receive a call. Be aware that the head doctor does NOT set prices or policy. Each doctor sets their own prices and there seems to be no communication between doctors. Get the price in writing when you set an appointment!!
Not the Same Expereince

I have been taking my Cavalier to this vet since I adopted him in June and have had a very pleasing experience. I initially met with with Dr. Davis for his initial exam and she was very welcoming of questions. The staff was very attentive to me and my new pup and spent a lot time explaining to me the veterinary needs and schedule. Each subsequest visit has been the same. The assistants are also friendly and helpful. Since the first visit, I've seen Dr. Abara and received no less service than from Dr. Davis. I am scheduling his neuter procedure with them as well. Wjen I called to schedule the appointment, the aid gave me specific information on pre-op feeding, arrival time, pickup and fees.
I've referred my next door neighbor that also has been pleased.
- Pros: friendly staff, clean, convenient
- Cons: strong animal smell when entering
Very knowledgeable veterinarians, clean facility, superior value for dollars.

Friends, I took my 108 pound Rottie for a spay. The doctor admitted the pet and for about 200 dollars MImi was spayed. This included pain med to go home and a one night stay. I told all my family. I will drive 20 miles past several vets to meet with the doctors at tricity anytime. They really recognise the value of money and was later able to diagnose my other pet with hyperinsulinism after years of fainting fits. All we have to do is feed her multiple times daily. thank u Dr Tony & Davis.
