DON'T GO HERE! WE ARE NOT WELCOME!
I went here this pass Saturday with two friends. This was not my first time here and one of my friends loves oldies so I knew she would love this place. The night started out really well. Guys were stopping and buying us drinks constantly, we were dancing and having an overall good time. Out of no where I am approached by the bouncer who says we were "losing the bar money". I was shocked by this because from the moment we got to the bar there was a constant flow cocktails to the point where I didn't even have to tell the bartender what we wanted because he knew. Being a bartender myself I know the name of the game so I made sure he was getting his tips and we weren't just taking up space. And as I mentioned before guys were consistently buying us drinks so it really wasn't a hard task. I was utterly shocked and surprised by his statement. I explained to him that this could not be the case if anything we have made you money tonight. Then he said well you guys are making to much noise. I replied interesting cause the ladies next to us are doing the very same thing we are and yet you consider us the problem.
I felt no matter what was said or done his intent was to come over and kick us out. I sat down and explained again that what he was saying did not make since and he had no cause for giving us a hard time. He proceeded to call the police! We were escorted out of this establishment. For what I think was complete discrimination! I will not ever give this place another dime of my money or business! I was not at any point loud or pointing my finger in his face or any other stereotypical things some ppl may think. I am classy and sophisticated and we did nothing to incur our unceremonious departure.
And to top things off in the midst of all this nonsense one of my friends purse was stolen!
DON'T VISIT THIS PLACE. WE ARE NOT WELCOME!
Very cool place for the older crowd – I really enjoyed myself the times I have been here - even though I am much younger than the average goer. Great music, dance floor, knowledgeable bartenders and a good time.
Good for people watching – This place has been around for ages and it stays open pretty late. Drinks are decent but the best part is definitely the people watching!!
Buckhead's classic haunt is a dance heaven for empty-nesters – In Short
Talk about not having boundaries. This is like walking into a movie scene from another decade… made about another decade. Disco balls, old-school cigarette machines and cocktails served in goblet-like glasses cement the fact this dimly-lit, gaudy room isn’t like many others in our city. Gangs of the young, Buckhead set dance alongside the cut-a-rug mid-50s crowd, making it feel like a youth-invaded cougar-fest. Bouncers keep a close watch and looklike they just escaped from the mafia, strictly patrolling everything from the dress code to those sneaking drinks on the dance floor. All this seems strange when compared to the trendy bar-options in our nightlife-happy city, but Johnny’s is constantly packed. Maybe it’s throwing down with the older crowd that keeps things loose, or the wedding-reception-like excuse to dance, but for whatever reason, it’s tough not to have fun. Embrace it.
best dance club in town!! – This place is awesome! Music is great and the drinks are really strong. great late night stop- just don't touch the mirror ball!!
Great value – A place where you have to go in knowing what to expect, a dance club for people 30 to 70. It takes a little time to get used to but if you like strong cocktails and top 40 dance tunes, it's for you. Everyone is smoking but they finally renovated the bathrooms.
a hideaway from reality – simply said: best night of my life. drinks, dancing, amazing dj. just don't take your drink on the dance floor.
No excuse for rude valets...dont frequent Johnnys – I have worked for almost 20 years as a restaurant manager in the Buckhead area. Saturday, May 25th I dropped by Johnnys for a nightcap with several employees of mine from the restaurant. I had parked in the lot adjacent to Johhnys, but my fellow co-workers innocently pulled into the Johnnys lot and parked in the first available space. (It was about 2am in the morning) The valets started yelling at him that the lot was valet only, so the driver got out of the car and promptly tipped them $5 for the space. Evidently this wasnt good enough for one of the valets as he started threatening my employees that if they didnt tip the valets, they werent getting into the club. I was aghast at this behavior and would like to discourage anyone that reads this to consider going to a different club where they have a clue what "hospitality" means. In addition...this club is all washed up anyways ...it used to be an Atlanta landmark, but now that it has been sold to new management, it has gone down hill fast.
good for a fight...not a dance – the crowd has changed and it is not the same. Too many fights and it appears they no longer care for the "older" crowd that supported them in the past. I won't be back.
Great fun – Johnnys is a great late night source of fun, lots of women great fun, great atmosphere alot of closeness, the music is outstanding any night, so you guys will love it.
