What People Are Saying About Horseradish Grill
The Owner
Horseradish Grill
Owner
Horseradish Grill is Atlanta's oldest continuously operating restaurant. It is a culinary tradition based on seasonal freshness, ethnic diversity, and simply prepared, highly flavorful food. We embrace the philosophy that there is an immediacy to good food and cooking; that there is value in understanding the connection between a region, its history and its people, the seasons and natural rhythm of life. The Main Dining Room gives a cozy and intimate feel near the fireplace, while the Garden Room is the perfect spot for your bridal luncheon, holiday party or business meeting. The outside patio provides what has been voted as the most beautiful and romantic dining area in Atlanta.

The Scene
Located on the edge of Chastain Park, the restaurant is full of rustic charm. A peaked roof and exposed timbers make the dining room feel distinctly barn-like, but oversized booths, a working fireplace, warm lighting and Oriental rugs give the space cozy appeal. Expect to dine with older couples, families and groups of middle-aged ladies enjoying a girls' night out. Service is friendly, deferential and unobtrusive.
The Food
Solid renditions of classics like skillet-fried chicken make for a satisfying meal. A fried oyster appetizer is heavy with cornmeal breading, but the green salad gets a nice kick from spiced pecans and tangy vinaigrette. Grilled items, like lamb chops and beef tenderloin, are reliable standbys. The standout entree is a fillet of grouper, seared crispy on the outside and swimming in a buttery sauce with fresh peas and leeks. Finish off with a slice of lemon chess pie.

I especially went to Horseradish Grill to have the shrimp and gritts that I always order. They are usually great. Last night, I sent the small (which were to be jumbo) shrimp back because they tasted like rubber. The waiter kindly, sent them back and brought another round. The second round was far worse. The rubber texture from over cooking was not the standard I have experienced over the years. I was really disappointed since I chose the restaurant and wanted to show my date, a great place to dine.

Horseradish grill is located off the beaten restaurant path in Chastain Park. The location is truly lovely, and it is a charming little restaurant inside. Fried chicken is the specialty here (they have been featured on Food Network preparing this), and it does not dissapoint. A great place for a special occasion!
