“The food is very very good, the servers were quick even as we watched them struggle to serve the big group, and our food arrived fairly quickly.”
Their service was dismal.
The service at the restaurant was too pathetic. We were in the restaurant around 9:30 PM (which is not very late) but while we were having the main course, we were asked if we wanted ice-creams. When we said that we'll let them know once we had our main course - they said we need to tell since they were closing.
After this, the waiter got the bill while 3 of 4 of us were still having the main course! Then, as I was just having a look at the total while I had put my credit card in - he pulled away the bill from my hand. Disgusted by this behavior, I decided not to give any tip. So after I signed my bill, he came asking for the tip and I told him the problem.
And his reply was - "Please dont come to this restaurant again. We wont let you in".
Pathetic.. I must say..
Excellent service every time. I am a regular visitor to Himalayas and have found this to be the best Indian Restaurant that I have tried in Atlanta. The service is always good and the food excellent. Today, for the first time we tried the buffet lunch. It was far superior to it's local competitors for this reason... they concentrate on QUALITY not quantity. There were not many dishes to choose from, but the dishes that were there were very, very good. We have sampled buffet lunches at other places and been disappointed. The tandoori chicken and beef curry were superb. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and get my vote as a Brit (whose unofficial national dish is Indian curry in the UK!).
Hot time in the old town tonight.
My date chose this the week previous for valentines, and it has soooo much potential it's incredible.
My review will be a little skewed, because the night we went they had a huge multigeneratonal family (with kids running freely) that dominated the small space. But after we were seated and ordered, that's where it picked up. The food is very very good, the servers were quick even as we watched them struggle to serve the big group, and our food arrived fairly quickly. We'll have to go again when it's less a "family night", but my date liked it.
Best ITP North Indian.
The food here is very good, and it's probably the best North Indian restaurant inside the perimeter. It's one of the few places where you can Mulligatawny soup in the weekend buffet.
Their Sunday hours have changed from 12 to 2:30 and the buffet price is now 8.50.
Hate that I moved to another neighborhood. My wife and I used to live in Brookhaven and went to Himalayas often. The food here is fantastic! I love indian food, and this place is a gem hidden in a non-descript shopping center. We always hope enough people will find out about it to keep it open. The decor isn't anything to write home about, as it is in many indian restaurants. But, the waiters are very attentive. Really good food is hard to find, but you'll find it here.
Hidden Jewel. My partner and I read the reviews on City Search and decided to try this place as it was close to our home. We are so glad we did. The atmosphere was simple, but nice. The staff was attentive and nice. The food was outstanding and the prices were great for the quality of the food. Some of the best Indian food I have had in Atlanta. We will be back again and again.
Best Indian. Might not be the best ambiance or location, but the food is worth the drive. Food is guaranteed to be good every time - I have been going here for years and have never been let down. The service is always wonderful and compared to other Indian restaurants in Atlanta, it is reasonably priced.
Careful attention the classics makes this isolated Indian eatery worth seeking out..
The Scene
Drawn curtains in the windows puzzle first-timers, but a steady stream of locals enters this hidden restaurant with confidence. The tidy dining room is simply decorated with hanging fabrics and Indian bric-a-brac. Servers are efficient and self-assured.
The Food
What this typical Indian fare lacks in innovation, it makes up for with execution. Saag paneer (spinach with fresh cheese), smoky chicken tikka masala and aloo paratha (whole-wheat griddle bread stuffed with potatoes and peas) are faithfully rendered classics. Dal makni (lentils in a buttery, gently spiced curry) is an unexpected pleasure. Beef, rarely seen in Indian restaurants, appears on this menu: Try the beef sheekh kabob, a complexly flavored variation on sausage. Sensual rice pudding with coconut and cardamom is a must.
Excellent. This is my favorite Indian restaurant. The food is fantastic and the staff is wonderful. Sometimes rude patrons bring babies in there too late who scream and cry and ruin the experience; otherwise this place is the best! Parents, please stay home and let the rest of us enjoy this gem!
