Little Malaysia is the real deal!
by bigbaddave at Citysearch
Little Malaysia is my favorite budget-priced restaurant in Atlanta. I worked in Malaysia for over a month a couple years ago, so I have a good feel for what real Malaysian food is. I went to this New York Times-reviewed place called "New Malaysia" when in NY's Chinatown recently, yet Atlanta's own Little Malaysia is better! Both the appetiser as well as main dishes were superior. How often does Atlanta's best beat New York's best?
- Pros: THE AUTHENTIC MALAYSIAN FOOD!
- Cons: Atmosphere is admittedly basic (yet comfortable)

I'm not Malaysian, but I was born and raised in Singapore (and I have been to Malaysia a few times). The food here is really, really good and very authentic - as good as you can get outside of Malaysia. I go to Little Malaysia pretty often, and it has a very casual atmosphere and is family-friendly. The dishes I would recommend are kang kung belacan, Hainanese chicken rice, nasi lemak (different from Singapore, but good nonetheless). The fishball soup is not bad, but sometimes the quality of the fishballs varies - some times aren't as good as other times. The beef rendang is also good. Overall, good service, and great food!
- Pros: service, great food, family-friendly
Best Malaysian Food in Atlanta

Born and raised in Malaysia, so I know the authenthicity of the food...it reminds me of home. Tried "Penang", although the restaurant is big and spacious with more menu selections, their food is not that good. Try Little Malaysia, it's the best I've tried so far. My fav is nasi lemak, belacan prawn and of course the curry and beef rendang....Yummy!
- Pros: Authentic Malaysian Food, inexpensive
- Cons: Parking
