Tips for Little Szechuan

May 11, 2013

My family has been eating at Little Szechuan for the past 10 years and we still can't get enough of it. My oldest son, now 7, learned to eat vegetables there. The food is the highest quality and prepared perfectly. The staff is always friendly and the owner is one of the kindest persons we've ever met. This place we believe is still a hidden secret yet we see most everyone from CDC eats there. Among our favorites are the fish and shrimp in ginger sauce, sesame chicken, stir fried green beans and orange beef. Everything on their menu is just DELICIOUS and reasonably priced!

terrible experience xmas day! no food after almost 2 hrs! no explanation, no apology. We got up and left as did about 12 other tables. We asked to speak with a mgr , and there wasn't one. Horrible, and reviews are marginal at best!

The best chinese food in Atlanta. I have been eating here for over 15 years and would never think to eat elsewhere! Every dish is made with love by the owner/chef. The green beans are a must. Portions are huge! You will not be hungry an hour after eating!

Don't waste your money. Hands down, the worst meal we've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. We've eaten here before and, while not the best, wasn't anything close to our meal tonight. Fried pot stickers were undercooked, greasy, and absolutely disgusting - we each had one and left the rest on the platter. Egg Rolls were only edible because we dipped them in hot mustard. Mongolian Beef was absolutely tasteless and the General Tso's Chicken only marginally better. We started laughing when the waitress asked if we wanted our leftovers (which were substantial) boxed to go. The best part was when she wanted us to pay cash because we'd used a coupon. What? When I told her I had no cash, she turned to my wife and asked "How 'bout you?"

I now see why this restaurant is showing up on all the deal sites.. They are dying a slow death because their food is so bad.

Outstanding and authentic Chinese restaurant. I visited this restaurant last week and found it to be outstanding. The food is very good and, I beleive much more authentic than many Chinese places in the U.S. The prices were reasonable and all three dishes we tried were really good - in particular the stir fried string beans.

The staff were attentive and the owner stopped by mid-way through the meal to check on us and chat. He strikes me as the kind of owner that, if you have a problem, wants you to call him over and he will try and fix it. But, in our case, there were no problems.

I would recommend this place to everyone and would take client/colleagues as well as friends and family myself.

Don't bother going here.. A few years ago, this place was okay and the food was good. Now...the front door looks like it has never been cleaned with windex. The floors are disgusting, the tables were sticky and the bathrooms were the worst I have ever seen in Atlanta (including bars). The service was just as bad. Three women with no idea of how to service customers. We waited 10 minutes before we flagged someone down for menus. The only thing that was good was the soup. The fried tofu was over fried and the house fried rice was mushy with too much soy sauce. We also ordered some chicken and ginger dish. We will never go there again. I tried to give no stars, but the system forced me to give at least one.

BEST CHINESE IN ATL!!. This has to be the best chinese food in ATL. I've tried many other restaurants, but this is hands down my favorite. The ingredients are fresh and they have generous portion sizes. The food definitely stands out among all of the generic chinese places! The atmosphere is a little "80's retro" with pink and black decor, however you hardly notice this once you eat the food. The last time we dined here it was packed....and there was a long line of people waiting to sit down, which says a lot since there are so many other food choices in ATL. When the majority of the people dining at a chinese restaurant are actually chinese, this tells you that it MUST be good and authentic!!!

AMAZING!. "BEST" Beef Noodle Soup we ever had, can't find this in NJ. Spicy Chicken w/black bean sauce outstanding. Glad Michael took us there, "THANK YOU" Kong!

The best Chinese food I've found in Atlanta. You should try this restaurant! My wife and I average 4-5 visits a month to Little Szechuan. Although I can't speak to it's Szechuan (or sichuan) authenticity, it's without doubt the best Chinese food I've found here in Atlanta. We've been going to LS for 12 years now. The food's always been top notch and we've always had excellent service (I will admit that there can sometimes be a bit of a language barrier with new wait staff, but they've always bent over backwards for us service wise). That's part of it's charm in my opinion.

Kong Ko is the chef and owner of Little Szechuan and one of the nicest men in Atlanta. Once he knows you, he'll start suggesting new foods for you to try, often things that aren't on LS's already huge menu. Try the fresh Bamboo Shoots when they're in season!

I suppose Little Szechuan's biggest problem is it's very worn decor. I'm quite used to it, but I think it scares first timers, especially those without a sense of adventure. I'm there for the high-quality food, friendly staff and very reasonable prices though, not the decor. That's what Buckhead is for.
