“Great atmosphere, great food”
“The food that I ordered was good, however if you plan to order a drink remember that the items list are (20oz).”
“This place doesn't have the best sushi, chinese, or hibachi grill in town.”
“this is a great place to bring friends and have a good meal, highly recommended.”
“have always had nice attentive servers and really great sushi.”
“The food was acceptable but not worth the prices they charged for it.”
“This is by far one of the best restaurants I've been in a long time.”
Been going for years.
DELICIOUS sushi and hibachi. I just love it. The food is very consistent with good quality ingredients.
The only complaint is that they need to update the booth seating. A couple times I have gotten seated where there are no springs left and you keep going down down down into the seat. Very uncomfortable.
If you are in their delivery zone, the food is always still very hot and well packaged.
was... just ok. We went on New year's eve which may have been the problem, but our reservations got mixed up and we had to wait around while who I think was the owner glared at us. We ate at the hibachi grill. Once we sat down I found out that they charge extra for fried rice... but isn't that the base of the meal? I would rather them just bump up the regular price than nickle and dime. The food was very mediocre. If I go again maybe it will be better, and if it is I will update this post, but from my first and so far only impression, it was just... ok.
What former employee say about oriental!. I was a former cashier. Manager Wendy never let me have my tips. Everyday Wendy told me "You don't worth the money I paid you." Wendy always use hateful eye look at me when she talk like that.Wendy don't let me have any break, she always complain I am not move fast enough.Wendy think I eat too slow. I have to go hungry a lot times when I work.I work 13 hours a day, 6 days a week. No overtime pay. Wendy pay me $1800 a month.I commit a suicid after working for 28 days. I didn't get my full monthly salary.I didn't die, I stayed in hospital for almost a year. The doctor said I am permanently disabled. I have to take medcine all my life.
Vinings staple is an easy option for Asian food fans..
In Short
Long a part of the Vinings landscape, Orient Express, equipped with its roadside, eye-catching train car entrance serves up sushi, Chinese, and Hibachi-style Japanese fare in three respective rooms. The sushi tastes fresh compared to many other joints in town, and the interesting vegetable dishes from the Chinese menu range in heat, though it is best to order a few and share with the table. Items such as spicy Szechuan chicken or “Ma Po Bean Curd” coupled with the chef’s selection of nigiri provide a great yin and yang for a meal. The old-school staff might not be super hip and exciting, but they will take the time to help you pick out dishes for you and your arm candy.
Great Sushi in Vinings. I have been going to this restaurant since high school. I have always had nice attentive servers and really great sushi. The old railroad car makes for a cool entrance too. I now live around the corner - so when I'm in the mood for sushi nearby Orient Express is my first choice!
Not worth it. The night we went, they sat us in front of a party of 20 young girls who were there for a "Sweet 16" party...I thought I was at Chucky Cheese's it was so noisy. Some of the girls parents were there as well, at a table on the other side of the restaurant where they could enjoy themselves. Parking here is like a can of sardines it's so tight. The food was acceptable but not worth the prices they charged for it. I won't be going back here, that's for sure...
A Vinings Staple. I'll put my bias out there: I love the Orient Express. I have been eating there, since I moved to Atlanta six years ago. The sushi has been excellent every time we go. There have been a few times I tried the Chinese food (good) and the Hibachi (okay), but I keep coming back for the sushi. The service is always good. The food doesn't take long and we usually are too busy enjoying the miso soup and edamame. There is an older lady who has worked there forever and knows us by our drink order (Saki bombs). It can get busy, but I have only on very rare occasions actually waited for a table. Yes, the parking lot is tiny (especially with all the SUVs), but it is worth a trip.
Best Variety for Asian Flare. This place doesn't have the best sushi, chinese, or hibachi grill in town. But they are damn good at all three. Orient Express does have one of my favorite sushi rolls the "Super Crunch". I highly recommend it. The hibachi grill is a standard and does a good job of doing exactly that. It isn't KOBE but some things are excellent like the chicken and filet. As for the chinese, I haven't found a GREAT chinese place but this is just as good as any in atlanta. If you are looking for good food, GREAT atmosphere and usually very helpful service...This is the place.
I'll never go again. We moved here from Ann Arbor and went there for because my husband likes Benihana. What a let down! Our bill was $80 and all we had was overcooked scallops and chicken. The hibachi chef was entertaining, but everything else was regrettable. The appetizers were overcooked. The atmosphere was like a day care. We ordered drinks toward the end of dinner and then were rushed to finish and pay the bill. For the same price you can go to Canoe... two miles away and like an entirely better world!
Chinese Takeout.... I havent had the chance to dine in at this particular restaurant, but I have ordered the take-out. The food that I ordered was good, however if you plan to order a drink remember that the items list are (20oz). That price is about a 300% mark-up on soda. Other that that little problem all was normal Chinese food. No real thrills to speack of.
