Royal Oak Tavern - Best Atlanta Area Irish Pub. The Royal Oak Tavern is an excellent find in Sandy Springs. It's located behind the Sandy Springs MARTA, in the shopping complex which includes Sports Authority, and is next to the LA Fitness Center. The pub has an authentic irish feel, with a long dark oak bar, with both booth and table seating as well. However, the highlights are the friendly wait staff and the food, which offers a wide variety of traditional irish favorites, irish stew, shepherd's pie, etc., and a great beer selection. In fact, both the menu and the wait staff are far superior to the better known Meehan's Public House, also in Sandy Springs..
