Read the reveiws: DON"T GO TO SPA SYDELL – .. There are just too many options to SPAs in Atlanta to go to SPA SYDELL. Several years ago this was a pampering and wondeful experience but not so anymore. THey are upselling during your entire experience and the massages here are average. The buckhead location is nice but their new facilities(Perimeter) lack in ambience and quality of the facility. The room I got taken to was musty and tiny. They had the tiniest ledge on the wall to put the therapists lotion -- so small, she had to use the floor for some of her stuff. Crazy.
My biggest complaint though lies in their policy on gift certificates. DO NOT BUY GIFT CERTIFICATES HERE! If your gift certificate is more than a year old, they will charge you 20% to use it. And if you use a gift card, you get treated terribly. You'll notice they ask you when getting your appt if you are going to use a gift card. - they'll give you the newest therapists.
Additionally, their policy appears to be incosistent: I just saw a comment where someone lost $400 in gift cards because they were 3 years old. I would have been furious -- how awful!
There are just TOO many Spa alternatives in Atlanta to go to SPA Sydell.
Not so much a spa.... – I had went into my day looking forward to my massage and pedicure. I was so disapointed when I visited this spa, first of all because it was old and had a mildew-type odor to it. The room I had my massage in was very dark and dingy with no decoration. Spackled type walls with that cheap carpet that you see in finished basements or garages. And did I mentioned it smelled? My massage therapist was very pleasant, and she was the only part I liked about my visit! The lady who did my nails was very rude and acted annoyed when she picked me up. She barely spoke to me at all, only put ONE coat of polish on my nails, and simply walked away from me when my servcce was done. I had to wait a few minuets later, when she walked by my area again to ask her 'Am i all set?'. She said yes and shuffled me to another seat to dry. How rude!! All in all, I am sorry to say I had a bad experience and I feel bad for my boyfriend who spent a good deal of money on this. I would not reccomend this place. Sorry!
If you want a great massage see Azarie! Worth every penny and then some.... – So I was a little hesitant after reading all of these reviews. The front desk was fine. You did get shuffled around a bit...checking in downstairs...then upstairs to wait for your therapist. They took my credit card information to open a "tab" when I arrived. After sitting with a cup of tea for a few mintues I was picked up by Azarie. He was so friendly and welcoming. He did an interview before we started the massage to decide where I needed a bit extra work. I really felt like this massage was customized for ME. His work was amazing. I got off the table refreshed and a bit dizzy and dopey....heavenly! My muscles felt better for the entire week. He did recommend products downstairs but honestly I didn't feel like it was being pushed on me. I felt like he thought they would make a difference in my body. I have already been back twice and will be seeing him regularily. I think we all have to remember that this is an enormous spa and there are gems to be found. As far as being late goes...I was late for my second appointment. I was stuck in traffic. Not really my fault but definitely not my therapists fault either. He did the best to accomodate me with the time we had. Remember folks this is an industry where the people working on us get paid only for what they do. They have appointments after us and I would guess that when we as clients don't get charged for a cancellation that the therapist walks away with nothing either. Regardless go see Azarie....he makes me feel special and I bet he'd make you feel great too!
Avoid Spa Sydell Like the Plague!!! – I was looking forward to FINALLY using 3 old spa gift certificates that I had received as gifts for my upcoming 30th birthday, but was informed that I could not redeem them because they are over 2 years old. That's over $400 of my friends' and families' hard earned money that they flat out STOLE. I am a VERY busy person and unfortunately haven't had time to take off a whole day to spend at the spa until now. I looked forward to a nice relaxing day at the spa for my 30th, but now I have to inform my friends and family that all their generosity went to waste. Money is money... these gift certificates should not expire. I realize prices may have changed, but I was more than willing to pay the difference. I will certainly be telling all of my friends and family to never buy me another gift certificate from this corrupt company again, and I warn everyone to avoid this unprofessional business like the plague! They aren't even that great of a spa to begin with.
A nice experience – We booked appts. for the spa in Buckhead before reading any reviews. I was a little leary of going after we read the reviews, but I was very pleasently surprised. The staff was very nice. I never felt rushed. My massage actually went a few minutes longer than it was supposed to, which is very rare. My therapist, Ronnie, did a great job. When we were done we had a chance to sit in the sauna and relax. The experience was a great one and I felt I needed to add a positive review!
Spa? – I have been to this spa more that once. I enjoyed my first encounters. However, my last visit left a bad taste in my mouth. My family gave me a gift certificate that included a full body massage and a pedicure. I waited for quite some time to receive the massage. Once I got to the room, the lady talked me to death. I could not relax and enjoy the massage. Then they sat me at a table to wait for my pedicure. Needless to say, I am still waiting, 2 yrs later. I will not visit this location again.
Good Spa – My girlfriend attended one of these spa's and was very impressed, each location has its particular pro's and con's.
Save your money – My husband gave me a day of SPA services certificate for our anniversary. This included a massage, facial, manicure, pedicure and makeup. The website suggests that we get there 20 mins ahead of appointment. Don't bother because the facility does not open that early. When it did opne, I signed up and was taken upstairs. I sat there until a lady came by and told me that she will do my massage. She did not give me a name. The massage itself was average, after which she asked me to get dressed and I asked whether I could have robe and slippers.
I then went to get the facial done. The lady doing facial spent 10 mins selling me services not included in the certificate. When I refused, she spent another 10 mins telling me that doing the foundation for makeup right after facial was not a good idea and there is no point doing lipstick since I will be eating right after. I asked her to do my makeup after the manicure and pedicure and she said that she had no time.
When she did do the makeup, she did not take off the eyemakeup already on because she did not want to go get the makeup remover.
I have had better manicure and pedicure when I paid $40. On the whole the experience was terrible.
At spa sydell they do not care. I sent a complaint on the website and nobody has call or e-mailed me about it.

Rudest reception... EVER!! – When I booked my appointment, they gave me directions over the phone. I get lost easily, so before I left, I confirmed the directions stating EXACTLY what was written.
The directions stated that the location was on Ashford Dunwoody, when in fact it's on Perimeter Center. I'm supposed to turn off of Ashford Dunwoody, however it was not in the directions to do so. Spa Sydell is NOT on Ashford Dunwoody as per directions. I eventually found it, but was 15 minutes late. I didn't want to lose 15 minutes of my appointment that I paid for, so I asked to reschedule and the receptionist refused on the grounds that It was my fault I was late. So I was a bit angry and explained to them that my directions were bad. They said the directions were fine and that I just didn't know how to follow them. If that wasn't rude enough, she continued to dispute that they were located off of Ashford Dunwoody, not directly on it, so I must have misunderstood the directions, therefore it is my fault that I am late and they cannot honor a reschedule. If They were off of Ashford Dunwoody, then they're directions should have told me to turn there, she wouldn't have it.
They were going to charge me if I didn't take my appointment, so I took it anyway. My service was fine. Nothing to rave about. Although I was quite stressed at the time. Even if I was angry, at the price I paid I expected better. The lady was nice and apologized for the rude behavior of the receptionist and expressed her desire to see her fired. Though, I think it was all talk to make me feel better. After my service, she tried to push a product. I refused and she insisted that I really needed it! I refused again.
Reception wasn't really a Spa atmosphere anyway. All the ladies were in conservative black suits with shiny high heel pumps. Not really relaxing. I will Never ever again go to any Spa Sydell; even if you paid me! Too pretentious, not environmentally kind and exceedingly rude.
Don't waste your money – They were 15 minutes late getting me out of the waiting room - then the person takes about another 10 minutes before they start ( this was for a 3 pm appt) so by now it is about 3:25 - the person comes in for the 1 hour massage and then tells me it's over - I look at my watch (which since you are getting a massage there is really no way to keep an eye on the time) and it is 4:00 pm so after paying for an hour massage I only received about a 30 minute massage.
