HIT OR MISS. we have been here 3 times and this place is def a hit or miss! First time we went for bfast and the food took along time but it was good. Second time we went it was during the week for bfast and it was HORRIBLE! Hard biscuits and cold gravy. It seemed like the food was old. Not sure if we will dine here agin based on our experiences.

I dream of Old Hickory House. I could drink the bar-b-q sauce! I have eaten at Old Hickory House since I was a baby, and it is always GREAT. The Bruswick stew is the best that I have ever put in my mouth. The Barbeque Salad with Chopped pork is TO DIE FOR!!! (Try 2 parts barbeque sauce, 1 part ranch for dressing <3)

The sauce is VERY vinegary, so if you like a ketchupy sauce, it may not be for you. My father and Grandmother, Georgia Natives, Also love hickory house. My husband, a Boston Native HATES the Old Hickory House, but then....what does a Boston Native know about Barbeque.

The coleslaw is not the best, nor are the fries, so substitute with the Bruswick stew when you can, Also, you can by the bruswick stew by the GALLON, so take some home and freeze it. I was born in Dunwoody, and now I live in Marietta, so the frozen brunswick stew saves me a drive when the craving hits.

Ask for an end peice if you are getting sliced pork. DELICIOUS!!!!! Seriously...Try the Barbeque Salad.

Great simple Sunday brunch.. My husband and I go to this place for brunch after church on Sundays. It's a good and cheap lunch options for us. There is no fluff but the food is good.

The worst BBQ ever and the breakfast wasn't far behind. This by far is some of the worst BBQ i have ever eaten. The french fries were the best thing I ate and I normally do not eat fries. The sauce had a strong flavor of dehydrrated onion and the pork and beef were very dry. The ribs wer okay but dry as well with very little meat. I would have like to have tried them fresh maybe they woudl have been better, but I will never know. I live close to OHH in Dunwoody, but from now on I will make sure I drive by the OHH on my way to a real bbq joint!

As for the breakfast we tried it a couple of sundays ago and were truly let down as well. Most of the breakfast was precooked and plated once we placed our orders, were is the hot bacon and sausage and who taught them how to make biscuits? The Waffle House is better than this place atleast the meal is made to order!

This place is horrible and I will never go back!!!!!

Best Brunswick Stew In The South! Good Country Breakfast!. This is one of Atlanta's BBQ legends. Founded over fifty years ago, by Jack Black and his family, it became a local empire. Times changed, and more que joints moved into the ATL. Today, their are only a couple of locations left, with a loyal following. The BBQ is good, but not great. The real star here, is the Brunswick Stew, laden with corn, chopped pork, and tomatoes. I grew up on this stuff, so you might say I'm rightly partial. Old Hickory House still serves one of the best Country Breakfast's in the metro. Long-time gals work here. They are all a hoot!

Not impressed. I had better BBQ at Chili's and other chain restaurants.

Very friendly service but the food does not live up to its hype.

BBQ was average, and don't understand how anyone thinks it's the best BBQ all around.

Local institution offers friendly down-home service and respectable barbecue at two locations.. The Scene
A faux-country decorative scheme and fluorescent-lit hominess rule here, with every known shade of brown predominating. Little about the restaurant has been updated in decades, and regulars--the "old" in Old Hickory House--like it that way. Seasoned waitresses make sure orders are taken correctly, caring for regulars and newcomers with efficiency and a smile.

The Food
While it's no competition for Atlanta's top barbecue places, Old Hickory House usually makes up in charm what it lacks in flavor. Chopped pork 'cue is faintly smoky and mostly moist. Chicken, barbecued whole, is reliably tender and generally a better choice. Pork spare ribs, though a bit dry on the outside, are still agreeably chewy. The sauce, usually full-bodied and tangy, sometimes tastes strangely of lemon juice. And Brunswick stew is heavier on corn and tomatoes than meat and lacks the peppery edge.

Average BBQ - You Can Do Better. The food was OK - nothing special. The ribs were small and lacking in the meat department. The BBQ sauce is pretty good but nothing special. Side dishes were fairly average as well.

You can do worse but you can definitely do better.

Good but predictable.. Good but predictable. Average food, good service. Barbecue sauce was the one thing memorable because of its unique flavor,

Best BBQ in the south. Best chopped pork, BBQ sauce, and Baby back ribs in Atlanta. Let's not forget the Brunswick stew, which is best in the nation. Forget that Tenn. w/ their cole slaw on the sandwich, and Low Country Crap w/ vinegar on everything, if you want the best, go to Old Hickory House.
