Great Customer Service!!! – I booked a Surprise Party there last week and Becky Land went over & beyond to make it a very special night! In working with her for a couple of weeks before the party she was most helpful and had everything perfect for the big event. The party was most successful and entertaining. The outstanding service was provided by Jonathan Billick,Ashley Willaims & Omar Lovett! These young wait staff were amazing, courteous & most helpful. They really made the party a success and I could not be more pleased. They truly deserve raises as it is not the same in other restuarants. I had a pre select menu & all 35 people were very pleased. That is most rare that all were pleased. I highly recommend this place for any special events you might be planning!
Great Food and Great Atmosphere – The food was great and the service was friendly and fast. This a great lunch place. Excellent filet sandwhich. I loved the house salad!!! Great place for afterwork drinks or a date. It has unique bar and great patio with live music. Definitly try their fish specials. The price is great for the experience. Highly recommended!!!
over-priced, over-cooked, under-dressed – i live in the metro atlanta area and heard this place has a cool bar - which is true, however, the crowd was lacking. upon enetering the dimly lit establishment, i was greeted by very friendly hostesses and my group was seated at tables overlooking the bar area. so far good experience. then, we are greeted by our waitress who is scantily clad unlike the rest of the severs in the dining area. i do not have a problem with looking at beautiful women but i did not intend to do it over a pricey dinner with my wife and another couple! if we wanted to go to a strip club that serves food we would have! the waitress was attractive and the service was good but the food left much to be desired. the menu is extremely limited as is the wine list. they definitely need to sprce up the menu particularly the appetizer section. those of us who ordered steaks received charred beef not cooked to temperature. from other reviews this seems to be the norm. i know that this resturaunt is one of several owned by the local Greenbaum family. i also know of Mr. Greenbaum and let me tell you for such a rich man he treats his staff with no respect and promotes sexism in regards to his feamle wait staff as evident at joey d's and the tavern at phipps. would i recommend joey d's? only if you want a burnt steak and to support and establishment that promotes such sexism. i'll stick to a bar for that - cheaper and better wings!
VERY disappointing service, and meal – ate at joey d's on 3-31-08. i was by myself so i sat at the bar. i ordered a beer and placed my food order. my bartender then proceeded to ignore me for the rest of my meal. when my glass was empty, another bartender came from the other end of the bar to get me another. the salad was fair at best; very little flavor. i ordered the filet medium with baked potato. thankfully the potato was decent, because the steak was atrocious. when it arrived it looked like a large charcoal briquette. the outside was burned, while the inside was VERY rare. when my server brought my food, this was the last interaction i had with any personnel at the resurant until i paid my bill with the hostess on my way out.
i travel to atlanta on a regular basis. i will never eat at joey d's again. there are several great places to eat in that area and this one is to be avoided.
Worst "fancy" meal I've ever had – The wife and I don't get to go out for an expensive meal very often, so when we do we really try to make it count. Our experience at Joey D's Oak Room most definitely did not "count".
I ordered the filet mignon, my wife ordered the garlic steak special. The salads were fine, though nothing wonderful. The steaks, however, were disgusting.
Mine was covered in salt, and stone cold in the center. There was little to no seasoning aside from the salt. It was rare rather than the medium rare I asked for. It was gross and a chore to eat. My wife's was covered in minced garlic, not the promised garlic butter, and it was full of fat. It was even worse than mine. As a side I had steamed vegetables that were oversalted and undercooked. I actually had the same side cooked better at a fraction of the price at a Taco Mac earlier this week.
At $30 a portion (and $8 for a gin and tonic), we expected much better. We had a very good experience ordering similar dishes at the Brookwood Grill in Roswell several weeks ago, and next time we won't experiment with our hard-earned cash.
Great ambience and excellent food – Everything on the menu is awesome, particularly the huge beef rib (you have to see it to believe it). the creamed spinach with nutmeg is to die for. The atmosphere is clubby, cozy, and perfect for a date or a business dinner. Consistently excellent.
Joey Don't's Choke Room – The service wasn't too bad so let me break down my order. House salad--definately NOT great, it's topped with some kind of bacon bit looking stuff that tasted like fresh paper. Potato soup(special)--tasted like it was straight out of a can, and if it wasn't for the fresh paper sprinkled on top, it would look like it to. Filet mignon--totally undercooked, made me think of Chick-Fil-a's motto:Eat More Chicken. Good atmosphere though.
Wonderful food, great service – Joey D's has delicious meals. Their house salad is great. I'm not a salad lover, and I loved it. It also comes with this light croissant that has honey butter drizzled on it. I've tried their filet mignon, and it's heavenly. Good wines. Candles on each table. Noisy, however, with nothing like carpet to absorb the noise. Prices aren't cheap, but the food is fabulous. Expect to pay $20 or more for your dinner. (My filet mignon ran me around $25-27) But really, it's worth it. The wait staff is very attentive without being obnoxious. Highly recommended!
Out of the ordinary – Joey D's is just around the corner from Perimeter Mall. Fantastic food that stands apart from the usual chains. The Crawfish Bayou pasta dish is delicious. Patio dining is great during favorable weather.
QUALITY FOOD – Joey D's food is outstanding. They have the best Club Sandwich & Italian American Sub. Their steaks are quality. They have excellent Absolut Oyster Shooters and Honey Croissant appetizers. The bar is purely the largest selection of liquors I have ever seen. It is in and of itself something to talk about. Service however is lacking. Service staff are not very attentive and seem uninterested in service. For the price the service should be much better, but the food more than makes up for it. Give it a try.
