From pecan waffles to legendary hash browns, breakfast fare rules at this homey 24-hour chain restaurant--but don't miss the chili..
In Short
Since 1955, this Atlanta-based chain has welcomed an all-hours crowd of shift workers, suits, regulars and late-night partiers with comfy booths and an extensive menu of Southern-accented home-style grub. Waffles (pecan or regular) are the restaurant's most popular dish. Other breakfast favorites include porterhouse T-bone steak and eggs, country ham, and signature hash browns cooked seven ways, from smothered with onions to topped with chili or cheese. Another bargain is the bowl of chili, which comes topped with onions, ham and cheese.

Gotta know the lingo.
I love the Waffle House because it's just so down-home. This location is great because it isn't too small and it isn't too big...so there's elbow room at your table but there aren't a bunch of folks eating in there with you. A delicate balance I appreciate. My waitress was GREAT! I ordered the hashbrowns as usual, but I ordered them with diced tomatoes, cheese and onions...she corrected me with "the lingo" "You mean scattered, chopped, smothered..." and I laughed hysterically.
