The talent has gone down lately – Used to love this place, but over the past year or so the acts have not been that good. They need to bring back some good headliners. Louie CK, Dave Attell, etc. Get it together Punchline.
TERRIBLE customer service - STAY AWAY!!! – Went there on Feb 6th... We had just gotten engaged and comedy clubs are a favorite pasttime of ours. She wanted to go see the guy from Cash Cab so I agreed and we bought tickets for 11pm show. Showed up at 10:40 and they stated at the window that the show would start at 11 and we could get in 5 minutes prior.... Figured 'Ok... no biggie, even though it was in the uper 30's outside that night and neither of us had dressed the part since the email they had sent with the tickets said doors open 1 hour before show. (That means they should have opened the doors at 10pm). Time went by... We heard from someone else that they would be opening the doors at 11:05.... Still 'tolerable' even though we were getting quite cold now.... No where even close to part at this place unless you want them to rip you for $10 extra in a shopping center parking lot next door. We had parked further away and just walked to the club.
11:15 comes and goes. 11:30 comes and goes.... We ask at the window if there is anyway we can just get a refund since nobody would give a straight answer on when the show would start. They said NO even though they were turning other couples away continuously that wanted to see show. So we finally left. Here's the real kcik in the ass... When I disputed the charge to my CC, they went to the club and the club said no way since the service was delivered.... Bullshit! They DID NOT deliver the service that I paid for. I paid for a show that was to start at 11pm and they had not even let anyone inside by 11:30pm, and refused to say when they MIGHT be ready to open doors.... This place is a poor excuse for a business and I will let everyone I know what they did to me and my $56.00 worth of tickets.... They failed to deliver, refused a refund and then caused the chargeback on a legitimate claim to fail. You may say 'the show went on eventually'.... So I ask you... To what limit does a couple have to stand outside dressed 'lightly' for the temperatures since we were told in an email that we would be able to get in 1 hour prior and freeze their asses off? Stay clear of this place if you're on a time schedule, expect to get exactly what you pay for or expect any semblance of real customer service. These dumbasses could have let us return the tickets, resell them to someone else and then garner the revenur from drink and food they lost by us just leaving unhappy. Now they will find out how a BAD customer experience affects their business as I tell everyone I know to avoid them. Next website on my list: BBB.
Great Laughs! – Although I admit it is a little crowded we actually had a great time! Joe Rogan was hillarious! Although, I can't see going unless there is a named comic like Rogan. There is no way I would pay the price for the tickets. The food was ok, we ordered the Chicken Wings. We only drank beer so I can't comment much on the drinks.
The only problem we did have was the woman who wouldn't shut up. She was talking loud enough for everyone to hear her. My girlfriend walked over to her and asked her to keep it down but that didn't work. I finally got mad enough that I stood up and told her very politely to "Shut the F*&K up". You would think the staff would say something to people that are loud there, but they don't.
worst club ever... – What an awful little place. I felt like I was at some run down comedy club that was on the verge of closing its doors. It doesnt matter where you seat because all areas are crowded. The right side according to the seating chart was supposed to be the non smoking side but it wasnt. Everyone came prepared to smoke there brains out. The food was horrible and I only tasted the chips and dip...the drinks were awful stick to beer and if your a girl like me just order water. Pablo Francisco was weak....he was trying out new jokes and they were horrible. Never will visit again.
A little below average... – The staff was friendly...but the admission was to pricey. I think we paid $27 per ticket...and all the comedians were sup-par. I would not recommend a visit unless your totally bored.
Funny, casual, homey – My boyfriend and I went for our first time last weekend. We really loved it and will definitely be heading back. It is tucked away off of Roswell Rd in an old shopping center, but don't let the location or outside fool you. Inside it is really cozy. Not too big and not too cramped. I had read previous reviews and sat on the right side to avoid cramming, and the view was great. The comedians were hilarious. Watch out! It's tough to eat and laugh at the same time. Cheesesteak was great as well as the drinks. Our server was super attentive and made sure we were always satisfied. Great, fun, comfortable, different experience.
Fun place to catch some good comedians – On a whim, I took my girlfriend to see a show on a Friday night. Made reservations online and chose to go to the 8pm non-smoking show and to sit on the right side on the back side of one of the 8 seater tables, based on recs from other reviewers. I am glad I did. Do not sit at one of the 4 seaters in the middle section or at the front side of the longer tables. The best seats would be on the right section, but up against the middle section - if that makes sense.
The food was okay, service was fine. Tickets were $50 for two people, plus about $30 for food and drinks. If you search on Google you can find 2 for 1 coupon codes to enter when you order tix.
Only place like it in Atlanta, as far as I know – We were there for the show, which was a good thing, because nothing except for the comedians impressed us. *** We expected it to be crowded... but to be jammed into the center tables like sardines? Not so much. We now know that in the center section, the back of the row of tables is the best because you can spread out a little around the end. Next time, we'll sit on the right side of the venue where the visibility is still good, but you have more breathing space. *** We knew the menu, having looked at it online. The prices were not unreasonable, except that the food was BAD. The "medium" burger was so extremely well done that every bite needed to be washed down just to swallow it. The fries were seasoned so heavily (with no warning that they were seasoned at all) that extra beverage had to be ordered to deal with it. The quesadillas were obviously not fresh, nothing could be changed on them, and the topping amounts were tiny. The grilled chicken salad was okay... not bad, but not great. *IF* I were going to eat there again, I'd get a salad. But we don't EVER plan on eating there again (though we will go back for the comedy).***Did we complain about our food or give them a chance to fix it? No, because of the attitude of our waitress from the very start. We were the first customers in the place this evening, and a pretty friendly group of 6. She was one of the most sullen, zero personality servers I've ever experienced. We NEVER saw her smile. To tell you how bad it was... we had 3 separate tickets. All of us are good tippers, 20% or more. Tonight, none of us left more than a 10% tip. It was that bad. *** The room temp was stifling. I really felt for the performers. It wasn't cold outside, just pleasant. *** We really felt the spicy food, dry food, and hot room temps were all designed to make us buy more drinks. Very irritating. *** We'll go back only because we don't know another comedy venue like this in Atlanta. But we'll eat elsewhere first.
Always Fun..... But Toooo Much Smoke – We have seen about a dozen "named" performers at the PunchLine. The laughs are infectious! The Bar Food is OK and the prices for drinks are reasonable.... The biggest drawback was always the smoke... We stipped going because the smoke was so bad. Since so many of the laws have now restricted smoking we want to try the Punchline again. I hope they have limited smoking because this place is really a lot of FUN!
Atlanta stop on the national comedy circuit takes laughing matters very seriously. – The Scene
A windowless A-frame in the parking lot of a removed strip mall, the Punchline could be confused for a strip club or BBQ joint--but actually occupies a former carpet sales building. The tightly packed, wood-paneled, low-slung showroom presses yuppies and yokels together in a casual, if not particularly cushiony, 21-and-over environment.
The Punchline has been showcasing the comedy circuit's biggest names for 20 years. In addition to local and regional talent, Jerry Seinfeld, Gilbert Gottfried, Bobcat Goldwaithe, Lewis Black and David Cross are just a few big names who have graced the stage. Catching a show is like watching the hottest HBO comedy specials in your best friend's 1982 basement den. Not every seat is the best, but speakers and video monitors cover all the odd angles. Always booking rising talent, the Punchline makes sure its shows are hilarious, no joke.
