Editorial Review for Chin Chin Chinese Restaurant – by Michael Longshore and Suzanne Wright
The Scene
Known more for takeout and delivery than as a sit-down place, this busy Ford Factory Square restaurant does a steady business in the surrounding neighborhoods. Inside, the small dining room is simply decorated with stylized bamboo stands, fans and small prints. Service is minimal but friendly.
The Food
This local Chinese chain restaurant woos with well-executed versions of standard, Americanized Chinese dishes that don't break the bank. Three Cups Taiwanese chicken is a hearty casserole of veggies rich with sesame oil and rice wine. Crispy Hunan-style fish is a generous, flaky whole snapper (de-boned tableside) with a slightly sweet ginger-scallion sauce. Sugar snap peas with prawn could benefit from less thickener, but the shrimp are plump and the peas tender. Pass on the overcooked and under-seasoned salt and pepper calamari in favor of soothing velvet corn and chicken soup to start.

I have visited Chin Chin in Dunwoody. My pointers for good restaurant service: 1. Do not bring my ticket 5 minutes after bringing the meal 2. Do not clear my table without asking 3. Do not ignore requests which can be reasonable accomodated Chin Chin in Dunwoody violated all of these pointers. I opted for Chick-fil-A, my coworkers out voted me. I work with a bunch of loosers.
Pros: Good food
Cons: Very bad service. I won't be back

A few weeks I visited this location and the service was slow. We felt ignored, but I wrote it off to the place being packed. Today is the Friday before a federal holiday and we were the first customers to arrive for lunch. The waiter asked us where we wanted to sit, we responded and he sat us elsewhere. This was a party of 3 and later it was given to another party of 3. He brought the food and 10 bites in, he brought the check. He did bring me a refill for my drink, after walking by my watered down drink 2 or 3 times. And here's the kicker, he had to wait about 40 minutes as the check sat there on the table. Generally, I don't pay until my party has finished eating. The place is about half full now and there are enough empty table, so we are not rushing to get out of there. He reaches over my friend’s plate to retrieve my wife's plate, and at the time she's still eating. After he drops those plates in the kitchen and waits about 10 minutes, he comes back to get her plate. I'm still munching on the free crunchy crud in the middle of the table. This guy comes in and grabs both bowls of the free crunch. I had just stuff a few pieces in my mouth as he was reaching for the bowl. I just pray that they are not recycling the stuff; he took it like he needed it for another table. Well that's that, for Chin Chin, I'm done. I did pay and my wife left a $.02 tip, I told my party that I won't even waste that small amount of money. The just have poor service at the Dunwoody location and I know the manager of another location. I will be speaking with him about the terrible service at that location. All in all the food is average, but I've been around.
Pros: Leaving never to return.
Cons: Everything I came into contact with.
