Save the Day (With Clay!)

I was struggling for a new holiday idea for my children to give to their loved ones, something besides the usual finger paint illusion or crumbling gingerbread house. I found this place and it's awesome. I was greeted warmly and helped by the girls who work there. We asked lots of questions and spilled paint and needed help wiping paint blobs off our ornaments. No one seemed as off put by my loud, rambunctious children as I was. There were more options than I expected, choices for any holiday you may or may not celebrate, and anything else you could want. Overall, I was really pleased with my experience. My children and I will definitely be going back. This place is onto something!

I love my job

I know employees aren't supposed to post reviews, but after reading the last review it seemed fair. I am not going to comment on the last review. or the circumstances under which the employee mentioned quit. I'm writing about MY experience as an employee. To put it simply I love working here. It is a great job, and it is lot's of fun. Half the people who work here don't actually need this job, but they work here because they love it so much. Customers come first here. I love our customers, they come here to relax, and have fun. Everything we do is geared towards making their experience the best possible.

To that end we do a lot of cleaning. We have an opening checklist, a closing checklist, and a weekly checklist. You'll find lists like this at most businesses, it's nothing unreasonable. We clean tables, sweep, mop, clean the bathroom, clean paintbrushes and paints, and dust shelves, and check the potter for fractures that could cause it to break in the kiln, or paint splattered on by young artists. We start the weekly checklist every Sunday. You have Sunday-Sunday to finish your part of the checklist, (it takes maybe an hour a day if you don't procrastinate and leave it all till the last minute) The cool thing about the weekly checklist is that we are allowed to come in and work on it anytime. You can either work on it during your shift (if we're not busy) or if you want extra cash you can come in throughout the week and work on it. At the end of the week all the employees get together and work on finishing the checklist together.

I do work by myself a lot. But the owner and manager check in periodically throughout the day, and are just a phone call away if I need them. We're rarely so busy I can't handle the shop, as long as I keep up with the cleaning and tickets throughou the day.

In short we work very hard here to keep our customers happy, but I love my job. i get paid well and work in a fantastic enviroment.

happy employees make a happy invironment.

a few months ago, my little, spiky-haired sister started working for this shop. She loved helping out the kids and has always been very helpful, teaching people the tricks of the trade and all...she was there as much as she could and loved her job,..she even went in hours early to help clean and painted ornaments for our mom. she was there alone a lot of the time, and had to do a lot by herself. i came in one day and watched her juggle helping people out and wiping down tables,and putting things in the computer. A woman even yelled at her for not helping her fast enough when the place was full of people. she always talks about doing her best and grins when she talks about the "cute little kids" who came in with their parents. i called her once and she said that she was washing all the pottery in the store by hand and putting it away by herself! she mopped the store and made sure it was ready for people to come and enjoy it the next day. today she called and said she was fired! now, i like this studio,..and my sister loved it also,..but if she could try that hard to work at a place she loved,...and still get fired. maybe they care more about the business than the happiness of the employees. i wont be going back.

• Cons: the employees seemed stressed out.
