What People Are Saying About O K Cafe
The Owner
O K Cafe
Owner
The OK Cafe opened its doors in 1987 and so great was the longing for a true Southern restaurant that by the end of the first week it had become an Atlanta phenomenon with crowds standing in line to get in. Today it serves more customers than any other full service restaurant in Georgia.
People come to the OK Cafe for the quality of the food and the sort of menu your grandmother would make for Sunday dinner, if you had a grandma who could cook that is. Mix in an uncle who was a short order cook at the best grill in town, and you've got the family recipes that make the OK Cafe so popular. Add to the family tree an aunt with a sense of fun who created an art-filled environment, and it's easy to see how this ongoing party, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, became the home-away-from-home for so many.

The Scene
With its open short-order kitchen, comfortable red-vinyl booths and friendly waitresses in throwback uniforms, this modern diner draws a steady crowd, especially weekend mornings and late at night. Weekdays, it's a fashionable gentlemen's power-breakfast kind of place; late at night, it's a way station for the Buckhead party crowd.
The Food
Expect honest-to-goodness diner food, including burgers and blue-plate specials, as well as Brown Cows, fountain-style malts, homemade potato chips and relentless coffee service. Breakfast offerings and burgers are the main attractions, but it's also good for a midweek meat-and-three comfort-food binge. Hit the takeaway shop next door, which consists of a mini-grocery store and hot items from the restaurant menu, if you're on the go.

Not only does OK Cafe have great food, but it has huge servings. All your favorites, except made better than you possibly could do it.

I appreciated the quantity and quality of the food. Plenty to take home and at a price that didn't break the bank. $30 for a couple...at their quality is unheard of. The staff was very pleasant. I enjoyed their attention to detail.

The parking is not good, the wait is not good, the service is not even that good, but the food is tasty! The sweet potato chips are delicious - get two orders and a sweet tea and you're set! The food is southern in nature but slightly off-center to appeal to those looking for something different. OK Cafe is OK by us!
