Editorial Review for UA Tara – by Jay Patrick
In Short
Nominated for Best Movie Theater for its indie appeal, this is the best place for local cinephiles to get their art-house fix. Cannes and Sundance favorites overshadow the occasional big-budget blockbuster. Tara was the first local theater to show "The Blair Witch Project." Old-fashioned, bare-bones equipment does just fine here--John Sayles' latest sually doesn't require DTS, THX or Dolby Digital.

Not the poshest of facilities, but functional with excellent selection of foreign and alternative films. Easy access, good restraunts and diversions nearby.
Pros: Movie Selection, Ol' Timey Movie House, Knowledgeable staff
Cons: Older Facilities, Mediocre Sound/Video, No Hot Dogs

There's a lot of different kinds of shows on Cheshire Bridge, but this one is guaranteed safe and relatively cheap. Though you'll pay a couple more dollars than at the Lefont theatres (Atlanta's other art house movie theaters), you do get what you pay for. The seats at Tara are all operational and the floors squeaky clean. On weeknights, you practically have the place to yourself.
Pros: great movies
Cons: a bit expensive
