Editorial Review for The Toy Store – by Elisabeth Bergman

The Scene
Tucked inside Midtown's bustling Ansley Mall, the Toy Store is a more intimate alternative to big-box toy emporiums. Dolls, games, building blocks, costumes, marionettes and stuffed animals compete for attention in a tightly packed space that caters to toy lovers of all ages. Kids play with the Brio train set in back while parents shop for the hottest gifts. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and easy to locate.

The Goods
The store specializes in trendy educational toys for those who want only the best for their kids. You won't find Barbie, but you will find plenty of Groovy Girl dolls. Much-coveted Brio, Playmobil, Bob the Builder and Hello Kitty share shelf space with hip Kaleidoscope dollhouse furniture and child-sized versions of Bosch tools. Many of the products are on the pricey side, but the Toy Store also stocks cheaper, old-school favorites like Mad Libs and 25-cent novelties, perfect for stocking stuffers and goodie bags.

Comments I've made during my frequent visits to The Toy Store: "I used to have one of those!" "I wish they made that when I was a kid!" "What will they think of next!" "Wow that is so cool!" "I'm late for a birthday party and need a gift now...HELP! I am moving away from Atlanta soon and this mom & pop store is something I will miss the most about the city.

You won't find this year's "hot toys" here, but what you will find will amaze you. They have Playmobil, Brio, Groovy Girls, Madame Alexander, Sanrio, Gund, Thomas, and a whole lot more. The staff is also friendly and eager to help you pick out the perfect present. They also offer free gift wrap.

Pros: free gift wrap, lots of stuff, small and friendly
