An unintimidating place to buy your first serious antique..
The Scene
At many of the Miami Circle antique stores, you have to choose between buying an armoire and paying off your student loan. Fun to visit, but you wouldn't dare shop there. Acquisitions is refreshingly within reach. A young, friendly staff puts you at ease.
The Goods
The heart of the inventory is 19th-century English and French country furniture, such as a bowfront mahogany chest or a sturdy oak press. There are also many country flavored accessories such as vintage metal canisters, mercury glass and colorful pottery. Some reproductions look authentic, so be sure you don't mistake them for old. (Hint: Look at the price tag.) Books on antiques and interior design are there to help novice collectors.
