“did like the retro decor and the service was good!”
“The desserts are huge but so yummy you won't want to share.”
“The alcoholic drinks are not good at all.”
“The food was beyond terrible.”
“The best brunch place”
“With all the great eateries in Atlanta, there's no need in my book to offer the new Agnes and Muriel's a second chance, not unless the previous owners come back.”
“The service was beyond horrible and the host/owner/waiter couldn't keep up with service because of his many breaks outside to smoke with the valet guy.”
“The desserts are huge but so yummy you won't want to share.”
Hip throwback has great southern cooking!. Hip throwback has great southern cooking! This place is one of kind with its kitchky 60's & 70's Barbie-ish decor. But the food is worth the trip! Traditional southern fare with a flare. Greens and Okra are great. Desserts are inventive.
Fun and Funky.. This place is great to take anyone visiting the south for a funky twist on good southern favorites. The fried green tomato BLT is great and the shrimp and grits are not to be missed. Also try the coca cola baby back ribs since you are in coca cola land. The desserts are huge but so yummy you won't want to share.
Dissapointed. This used to be one of the better places in the city to eat. The exterior was interesting and retro and now looks like a junkyard. The last meal here was gross. The mustard chicken was so over sauced that it was inedible. The sides and appetizers were greasy. The staff is getting younger and less capable and seems bothered by the patrons, but the waitress that would criticize your selections and take your plate before you finished is no longer employed. The bloody marys are always good cheers to the barkeep!
Late Lunch. We had a late lunch there and it was very good. I had the Fried Tomato BLT and it was very good. My husband had the fried chicken and it was good too. We really enjoyed the sides. Fried okra is a must have! The server was inexperienced, but attentive and had a great attitude! The menu has a lot of options and it was difficult making a choice. We will go back!
Sweet Potato Fries. Nobody does them better. Add to that friendly service, delicious veggie plates, and one of the most fun atmospheres in Midtown.
I bring all my out of town guests here. Southern food meets yuppie, a little bit anyway. I am a Yankee who moved down to ATL. I bring all my guests here because the food has always been great. The servers are fun and friendly. The fried green tomatoes are, from what I hear, the best in town, however, from experience. The alcoholic drinks are not good at all. This place is a must!
love this place. This restaurant is one that you search for. It has so much character. The buttermilk chicken is the best you will ever taste and the banana pudding is to die for. Try this place and you will love it.
Atlanta's funkiest tea room gives weekend brunchers their bacon and eggs with a side of kitsch..
The Scene
Imagine the cheeriest restaurant ever plopped down in the middle of your favorite vintage shop. Cozy, sunlit rooms crazy with retro-kitsch. Streamlined space-age '50s icons; tchotchkes everywhere; funky mismatched cups and plates; barbie and Ken in a pink Cadillac: There's no place like it in Atlanta.
The Food
A cross between a diner and a tea room with broad concessions to contemporary tastes. Fun food, comfort food, with few surprises but limited disappointments. Skip the seafood selections, like the overpriced crab cakes. But there's a happy middle ground among the likes of the spinach-cheddar omelette, the maple pecan banana French toast and the grilled chicken club.
Food has gone to hell. Breakfat should be an easy meal - unfortunately unimpressive food, cute setting.
It's just like home.... Comfort food and southern dishes rule the day at this funky, cozy, I-used-to-be-a-house-now-I'm-a-restaurant. Try the veggie platter--you pick 4 sides and that's your meal. Simple, but brilliant. My favorite combo is the mac and cheese, fried green tomatoes, sweet potato fries and green bean casserole. However, the kitchen can have off nights--just like at home, some nights mom just wasn't in the mood to dazzle. But when the kitchen is "on," which is most of the time, the results are worth it. Valet or park on side streets; don't park in the strip mall lot next door, or they'll boot you.
