What People Are Saying About Alfredo's Italian Restaurant

The Scene – A dusky jewel among the lower-strata strip joints and fetish shops of Cheshire Bridge Road, this concrete block bunker is a stalwart veteran of the Atlanta dining scene. Experience-seekers will squeal with delight upon entering the low-lit dining room with its red vinyl, gilt decorations and tuxedo-clad servers. Premium seats have their back to the wall. – – The Food – Much of the appeal at this local favorite is the old school atmosphere, and there are plenty of reliable Italian favorites on the menu. Follow your instincts and go retro to the hilt--big…

Alfredos - Best Restaruant in Atlanta
by bewyweet
Alfredos, located on Cheshire Bridge Road in Atlanta, with a humble appearance on the outside, that encompasses a true gem when you step inside. The smell of garlic and sound of Sinatra fill the air of this cozy spot. But, it's the food that gets me everytime. I eat everywhere, it's a passion, but this is by far the best restuarant in which I've ever had the pleasure of dining. The pasta's are melt in your mouth delicious, seasoned to perfection. My favorite, their special, which is Chilean Seabass is to die for. Trust me, just order it and see for yourself. The side of spghetti with meat sauce ties the meal together. Oh, and the appetizer of pickled vegetables and fresh garlic bread is just enough to get you ready for the meal of a lifetime. And, I can't leave out the waiting staff. They are the best. Smart and witty, you are guaranteed great service. I'm not just saying that it's the best Italian restaurnt I've ever been to, it is seriously the best restaurnat I've ever been to.
Mediocre Food, Slow Service, Rude Waiter
by DanaDirects
We'd heard so much about this restaurant that 9 of us dined there tonight for a birthday celebration. It was possibly the worst dining experience we've ever had. The restaurant is dark and has an interesting odor. The service is slow. The food is mediocre at best. The appetizers were bland: calamari that tasted like it was frozen and then fried, tasteless stuffed mushrooms and ok escargot. The salads were a joke - served on small plates that looked to be bread plates even though they may have been salad plates. While waiting what seemed to be a long time for our entrees, one of the servers spilled a glass of water over the table including on my BlackBerry. We're still waiting on an apology. The entrees finally came and again mediocre is the best any of of us were able to give the lasagna, salmon, chicken and snapper dishes we had. We ordered a variety of desserts in hopes of salvaging a disappointing meal. We were disappointed again. I am a "foodie" and pride myself on knowing good food and great service; I've had some wonderful dining experiences throughout metro Atlanta. Tonight, I dined with a group of friends who get together throughout the year to celebrate birthdays and other events and we travel throughout metro Atlanta to dine at different restaurants. Needless to say, we're all frequent diners. None of us were prepared for the comment that the server made after we paid the check. He brought the tip back to the table to explain to us that the bill was $332 and we didn't leave enough tip. Yes, we were in shock! A mediocre dining experience deserves a mediocre tip. None of us will ever dine again at Alfredo's Italian Restaurant and I'm letting all of my friends know about the awful dining experience we had tonight.
BEST NY STYLE ITALIAN IN ALL OF ATLANTA
by pslloyd82
I've been to Alfredo's many times and every time I'm pleased with the quality of food, service and kitschy ambiance. It's always an experience and I love going back every time. Like most Atlanta landmarks, many people with no idea of what kitsch is don't understand what makes Alfredo's great. Its not modern, Its like walking into a time warp and it's like nothing else you have ever seen.
Excellent authentic italian food
by cocoacreme81
The place is fantastic if you get there early or have reservations. Other than that you will be wating a long time to be seated. The food is amazing and delicious, and the starter garlic bread is just fantastic! Be careful to leave room for the main course!
- Pros: Garlic bread
- Cons: small restaurant
Can we get our appetizer.. or the wine we ordered??
by LPears
My boyfriend and I went to Alfredo's this past Saturday night for dinner. We chose this restaurant because of the 4 and a half star rating on yelp and great reviews that we read.
We made a reservation, arrived a bit early and got a drink at the bar. I was surprised by the 70's, dungeon-esque atmosphere as the place has no windows but was looking forward to the yummy Italian food that everyone seemed to be raving about.
We were seated fairly quickly and before our reservation time. Our water glasses were filled and we tried the garlic bread and pickled veggies. I don't know why everyone loves the garlic bread. It tasted like the frozen garlic texas toast you can buy at the grocery store...
Our waiter came by, we ordered a carafe of wine and calamari along with our entrees. He disappears and we don't see him for another 30-40 minutes. No wine or appetizer. A food runner comes by with our entrees. We ask him to get our waiter for us. We watch him walk over to the waiter, filling the glasses of another table with wine, and see him tell the waiter our request. Our waiter looks at us then proceeds to disappear for another 10 minutes. The next time we see him, he is laughing and talking with another table. At this point the host comes by and asks us if everything is ok. We told him that it was not and explained the situation. He asks us if we would like him to take away our entrees and bring the wine and appetizers...?! At this point we had been sitting there for close to an hour. He then goes and tells our waiter what was happening and the waiter walks away again!! Didn't seem to care one bit. We said we wanted to leave and all the host did was throw his hands up and say he was sorry.
AMAZED at the horrible service especially when we were so looking forward to the food.
- Pros: ???
- Cons: service and decor
