“The double layer cake was dry and uneven.”
“What a delicious german chocolate cake you guys have.”
“The store was clean and the staff were very friendly, fast, and accommodating; they had no problem making the cake for Saturday when I ordered it on Thursday (granted, it was a rather simple sheet cake.)”
“The caramel cake (that I drove 30 minutes for) was less than mediocre.”
HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!. When you go onto their website it states that they have wedding cake tasting every Saturday and lists the hours. Well I called prior to and was told that the bakery was going to close on 7/3/10 @ 2 p.m. and that I did not need to schedule an appointment for a wedding cake tasting. Upon arrival (40 minute ride from Acworth) I was informed that they did not have the samples and that they would be on vacation next week and to "come back the week after". Talking about color me "STUPID", I DON'T THINK SO, I WILL TELL EVERYBODY THAT I KNOW DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS HORRIBLE PLACE!
Rhodes is great, but.... I went to Rhodes Bakery for my last birthday cake. The store was clean and the staff were very friendly, fast, and accommodating; they had no problem making the cake for Saturday when I ordered it on Thursday (granted, it was a rather simple sheet cake.) I was extremely pleased with the experience and would give the bakery a higher rating if it weren't for the fact that the actual cake was somewhat bland and the icing was far too sweet. It may have just been the kind that I ordered, but I felt like I basically just paid for the decoration because I could have made the exact same thing from a box.
Dissapointed customer. I went to this bakery becasue the 1st rater sounded so impressed. The caramel cake (that I drove 30 minutes for) was less than mediocre. The double layer cake was dry and uneven. I was completely disappointed in my purchase and they don't even take orders. I would never go back.
Best Caramel Cake in Atlanta. My family has been going to Rhodes since I was a kid. This place is amazing! You get a warm fuzzy feeling just walking in the place and the smell of freshly made icing is to die for. They make the best Caramel cake I have ever tasted- we get it every year for my mother and sister's birthdays. They make delicious petit-fours, cookies, and cheese straws as well. It has been family owned and operated since 1930 and after going there once, you will understand why they have survived all these years. I highly recommend you try this place. I am a lifetime customer.
Editorial Review. Traditional Buckhead bakery known for its wedding cakes, salt-rising bread, caramel cakes and birthday cakes.
