closing?.
the owner has been all over the media saying he is going to close --business is off, he's old, etc., however, if business picks up--maybe he'll stay open--wow, the local media really bit big on this one!
Guess what? he's decided to stay open, business has gotten good again--what a surprise!
If you need to improve your business, call the media, come up with some lame story about closing, watch your business improve, then change your mind----

Southern comfort food properly served in a cool old house..
In Short
Sitting in an old house filled with country knick-knacks on the West side of 14th, Bobby & June’s makes you feel like you’re miles away from Midtown. This is Southern Atlanta charm at its finest, with a meat-n-three menu and an owner that’ll still play checkers with you on the porch. Everyone from Tech coeds to high-powered Congressmen can be seen amid the lunchtime rush, enjoying service that’s as kind as it is fast. So order fried chicken with mac ‘n’ cheese and let that Southern twang come out when you ask for a sweet tea.
A fried chicken shack in Midtown? Believe it..
The middle of Midtown is not really where you'd expect to find fried chicken getting served up in a kitschy cabin setting. But this meat-n-three mainstay knows what it's doing. During peak bfast/lunch hours, businessmen and Ga Tech coeds wait outside on the porch, as the little space fills easily, but super-fast service keeps things moving.
While they offer a full range of comfort food, the fried chicken, biscuits and mac 'n' cheese are absolutely the reasons to go. It's not the best fried chicken in Atlanta (that nod goes to Watershed) but it's exactly what you can expect from an established meat-n-three. The breast (which comes with wing attached) is super crispy outside and juicy inside. And the biscuits are perfect accompaniment: fluffy and not-too-buttery.
Plus, the 1960's country diner setting makes you feel like you're miles away from a metropolitan.
Pretty much the greatest restaurant ever.
Whenever we have folks in from out of town and they want the true southern food experience, I take them to Bobby & June's for lunch. Some might argue Mary Mac's is more appropriate, but to those people I say "nay." Nay I say! Does Mary Mac's look like an old rundown house? No! Are there rocking chairs on the front porch of Mary Mac's? No! Can you play checkers with the owner of Mary Mac's? Not to my knowledge!
Go to Bobby & June's for lunch. Get in line and get excited. Order your meat & 3 sides (can't go wrong with the fried chicken). Get the biscuits. Get sweet tea. If you've got a southern accent that you usually try to mask, let it out. Go crazy. This is what lunch used to be like in the good ole days. Embrace it.
you get what you pay for...and that's a good thing!. this place is exactly what an "in the city" southern food restaurant should be. the building, staff, and decor make you feel like you're back home in the country on a sunday afternoon. waitresses are friendly and the service is prompt. get there around 11:30 for lunch, it get's crowded quick. you get a meat, veggies, and bread with a sweet tea for a reasonable price. i've read other reviews that have complained about the service and the lack of free to-go cups. you want to sit around and be seen? go to taco mac on peachtree. you want a free to-go cup? stop at the mcdonalds drive-thru. this place is the perfect lunch spot for those who work in the city and want a taste of home on their hour long lunch break.
still open?.
every time i go by this place they're closed for one reason or another-oops it's a weekend-we're closed--oops-it's a holiday we're closed for 10 days--do they want to be open for business or not--
when I did finally catch them open--hurry they close at 2pm--they want you to eat and leave-not necessarily in that order--just get up and go--and don't expect to take your tea with you without an extra take out charge!
doesn't seem too "southern hospitality" to me- I'll find a place that actually welcomes my business -in this day and age with this economy you wonder how they stay in business with this approach to business
Good food and very nice service. I agree with a previous review . . . you get what you pay for. Nothing more, and certainly nothing less. This is country cooking by name, and it is good. It is not a Starbuck's where you are encouraged to linger. They want to get the customers in and out. That is good service. I don't have a leisure lunch of unspecified time, so appreciate the fact that they strive for effeciency. Most of the time, I am in and out in 30 minutes. The drink refills are free, and if you want to take one out the door, why wouldn't you expect to pay for the cup? Go to Buckhead if you want to hang out for hours at lunch, but you won't get out for only 7 bucks or so like you do at Bobby and June's
Great Southern style place. If you are looking for that since of the small town diner, this is it. Folks are friendly, service is prompt and served with a smile and the food was what you expect from your grandmother. Well at lease my grandmother.
The Real Deal. True southern food - meat , veggies and sweet tea. Bobby is the greatest and this place is a true gem.
