User Reviews for Chinese Buddha

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

Me and a buddy eat here nearly every Saturday night / Sunday morning after catching a late movie at Atlantic Station. Usually around 2am - 3am the place is pretty full but we've never had to wait. Great service, awesome prices, and really, REALLY good food. You can't beat this place for a late night meal downtown. In my few dozen weekend visits, I have never been let down. Highlights: Hot & Sour soup, Crab rangoons, Sesame chicken, and the vegetarian general tso's.

Pros: ambience, service, food, open till 6am

Cons: bring a honda civic, parking is a pain

I have been in downtown Atlanta for quite a long time and I have had various experiences with Chinese restaurants. The other places that I have tried are chico and chang, lucky Buddha, Chinese Buddha, Hong Li Chinese, Mandarin House, etc. And I have to honestly say that Chinese Buddha is one of the worst. The food is pricier than the other restaurants with minimum $10 dinner combinations. The amount of food is less than other restaurants as well. The standard sesame chicken uses white meat but the breading is the same as “sweet and sour chicken”. The sauce is too sweet and thick, and the thin breading soaks up so much of the sauce. It’s hard to eat more than three pieces. The breading gets so soggy after some time that when you order sesame chicken through delivery, they will not even sauté the chicken with the sauce. The sauce will come in a different container for you to dip the chicken in (just like sweet and sour). As a delivery restaurant, Chinese Buddha is the worst out of all the ones I’ve tried. I have ordered delivery from them over 20 times and I have waited an average of 1.5-2 hours in the past to receive my food. However since the start of lucky Buddha (another late night restaurant) I have completely boycotted Chinese Buddha. Lucky Buddha has never failed to deliver on time, and my average wait time was 20-30 minutes. The sesame chicken at lucky Buddha is also much better with better breading and amazing sauce with a hint of garlic taste. Since they deliver so fast, I have never gotten my food cold. They also prepare the food within 5 minutes in store so you can get your filling fast. Overall, Chinese Buddha still has great egg drop soup, Mongolian beef, and a great new place with amazing interior design. HOWEVER, the food is overpriced and deserves no praise. The delivery service is worse than all of the other restaurants. If you are looking for a restaurant that lives up to their pricings, just head over to lucky Buddha.

Pros: good egg drop and mongolian beef. good for a date spot with great interior design

Cons: Overpriced. Less food than other restaurants. Does not taste good.
